UPDATE on my firefighter friend
Thank you so much for your added prayers and support. I passed it all on to my buddy and his family.
They all came home yesterday from UC Davis Med Center. He's doing alright, but he's got a long road in front of him. We took them dinner tonight, and arranged dinners for a few more nights.
Spence's hands had to be reformed with 100% grafting on the backs of them up to the wrist. It turns out that because he was holding equipment in one hand, and his radio in the other, his palms were left untouched. His face was one giant blister until a few days ago, now it looks like the worst sunburn imaginable, with patches of aweful blisters and open sores. He showed me the graft sites from his thighs...ouch.
He has to wear gloves for at least a year, and he's worried about gaining back his lost finger function. Luckilly he's in good spirits. He insisted that we come inside with all the kids and hang out for about an hour. I think he was glad to have people to play with his son.
The son (who was having seizures) seems fully recovered. They think it was due to the quick onset of fever. All the MRI's etc came back clear, but he's on anti-seizure meds for the time being. He was a happy-bounding little 14 month old boy when we were there.
His mother is awaiting a test result that will determine leukemia or not. If not, her brain surgery is on Tuesday. If ya...dont' know what the next step is.
Thank you so much for your prayers. I printed it off and showed his wife, Theresa. She probably gave it to Spence, too.
What a trial, but God willing they'll be just fine.

Jake,
Thanks for the update.
OOOOOUUUWWCH!
I have a 14"x9" patch where skin was harvested from my thigh over 4 years ago.
It still tingles, stings, bothers me today.
May the rest of his family be in the clear,
And may his healing be record breaking...
Know that a whole slew of Mississippi Methodists
Are sending their prayers.
Best Wishes-
Dx
