Does anyone know how to calculate what percent you have lost of your weight? I'm assuming you divide how much you lost by the amount you needed to lose to begin with but I'm SO very retarded with math. Thanks.

The calculation for the percent of your starting weight you have lost is starting weight - current weight ------------------------------------------     x100 starting weight The Calculation for the percent of your weight loss goal already acheived is Weight loss so far ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   x 100 total weight you want to lose (starting weight - goal weight)

Thanks! So I've lost 27% of my "starting" weight, which was 345 and I've lost 65.5% of the weight I wanted to lose which is 145lbs total (I've lost 95 give or take) Sounds like I'm on target!

if you mean excess weight being the weight more than normal than. you started with 450-216 = 234 excess weight you now only have 277-216 = 61 excess left 61 / 234 *100 = 26% of your excess left so you have lost about 74% of your starting excess weight so far Now my question you had your surgery only 6 months ago right?  how did you lose so much already?

Thanks for your help with that! I think I read that with RNY you can expect to lose "up to 60% of excess weight"....so I guess I am doing pretty well...lol. As for the reason why I've lost at such a rate I'm not sure, but I think it may be a combination of things: * I had terrible complications and lost about 80 lbs the first month. 1/2 that time I was in a coma on a vent and in kidney failure so I don't think I was eating much...LOL... * I follow instructions well & have learned from the mistakes and successes of others on here. * I have not deviated from my nutritional plan ONCE and I will NOT. No testing of the waters! * I am somewhat young, turning 31 in a few days. * I was always the skinny kid growing up and have only been overweight for about 10 to 12 yrs. * I've tried to do some kind of exercise daily since I left the hospital using a walker and only being able to make it about 20' at a time.  * Most importantly I've got a great support system and home, work,  and at OCWLS support group and of course on OH!!

Phenomenal no? I noticed  his unbelievable rate of loss on another thread. My guess is that he has two huge advantages that most of the rest of us don't have. 1) He's 6'6", and 2) he's still a young buck.  Which is not to say that he ain't working his ass off at it.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
