Half way there!
I ate grits early on when I was in my mushy food stage. About half a cup at a sitting. Love 'em. I had a piece of cornbread at a resturaunt a couple of weeks back. Put a little butter on it and it was better than sex. Dadgummit Bama. Don't you go mentioning lemon-merangue pie. My mom used to make that when I was a kid, and I hit her up for it ever time I go home. I'd almost let that one out the memory hole. Yeah those women with the old time southern roots are dynamite in the kitchen. My mom makes the best chicken fried steak and gravy I've ever eaten anywhere. And I've sampled 'em far and wide.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
Yeah Fish, I hear ya man. Mama makes what she calls fried minute steaks with creole gravy, which is made with tomato soup. She serves it with mashed taters and homemade biscuits. It's so good it'll make ya holler!
When I was a kid growin up, every Sunday we had some kind of fried meat, mashed taters, gravy, 2 or 3 fried veggies, and either cornbread or homemade biscuits. Mondays we always had fried tater calkes and leftovers! Nothing was ever wasted or thrown away!
We also used to have breakfast for supper - fried eggs, bacon or cured ham, homemade biscuits and milk gravy! Then we'd follw it with biscuits and honey butter or molasses. Cracker Barrell couldn't begin to come close!

I got to say the one thing I miss is a big Ol' breakfast, country ham, redeye gravy, eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy, grits, & taters, oh and gallon of coffee! Not complaining but that was my Saturday morning thing either while traveling or home. Now I could probably eat most of those thing spread out for a week. I guess thats the head game we have to over come. Damn I was all prepared to be dreaming about Faith Hill (I mean my wife) now I'll probably be counting biscuits in my sleep!!! C'ya Bob
