Half way there!
At work the other day I had to make myself shut my mouth before I put my foot in it. One of the women was all excited because she lost about pounds over a month. It seemed like such a small amount after the weight losses I have gotten used to. It's gets hard to remember what it was like to loose weight prior to surgery.

Brother Bob....First congrats on you success....you are really kicking ass
but I got a question...you being a southern boy too....
What do you miss...I know that our lacking are overtaken with out success...but is there anything you think...hmmmm I wish I could do that...
for me...I would love to be able to eat cornbread....or grits....they both just kick the stuffing out of me....I'll live...but it's a hmmmm fond memory?
If there is corn bread...i just walk myself out of the room...I react like a Baptist Woman and a ***** Mag.... (giggle)
Russ
Thanks Russ! As for the foods I miss, here goes . . .
Mama's fried chicken, Mama's fried chicken livers, Mama's cornbread
Mama's fried okra, Mama's fried corn, Mama's creamed taters, Mama's homemade nanner puddin, Mama's homemade lemon meringue pie, Mama's sweet tea . . . heck, anything my Mama cooks!
My Mama's an old fashioned Southern style cook and uses recipes passed down from my great grandmothers. All mostly fried foods and super rich desserts, TRUE Southern Style with all the seasonings!
On the other hand, getting healthy and feelin' good is still better than eatin' all that!!

Ok....well my mom did not cook....but my Aunts...now that is another story...anything with bacon grease and an Iron skillet...
Oh ****they had a fried squash and green tomatoes..that would just blow me away..and a pot of pinto beans...
I can do tatters in small amounts...okra I can do, as long ans the grease don;t get me...nanner pudding...I have been known to nibble....(it has to be the hot pudding that makes the nilla waffers mushy though..none of this cheap azz crispy cookies in my pudding....
but brother....I can do squash on the grill...and grilled catfish...hmmp...I can do squash and catfish...
Yep, that's it Russ - "seasoned' black iron skillets and pots, bacon grease, fatback, ham hocks, and other Southern seasonings. That's the way Mama cooks.
In the summertime, she goes to the Farmer's Market and gets fresh everything - corn, squash, okra, tomatoes (ripe & green for fryin'), green beans, etc. She also doubles the Nilla wafers in her nanner puddin' and they get real good n' soggy - I used to love to get a big ol' cereal bowl full about 30 minutes after she made it while it was still real warm . YUMMY!!
