Anyone here do spinning classes? My wife and I are going to try our hand at this today at lunch. Any points or tips? All anyone has said is: take a towel and a bottle of water.

What are you spinning? I used to spin the bottle but that was a long long time ago.

Work is for those who don't know how to fish.

Oops. I guess my lingo carried over. Spinning is an exercise class on a stationary bike.

padding for your butt. That was the only complaint about the class I took.  The seats were a real ass buster. Scott

OHHHHHHHHH YEAH!!! I do the class 2 times a week and the other days, I do step aerobics. I love the spinning class. In my own opinion, you gotta pick an instructor that really motivates you and pushes you to do the class all the way through. The gym I go have the best instructors. I walk out of the class WET!  The music is great and the crowd is what makes a difference. About the butt thing?  At first I just hate sitting on that small little seat but now I'm used to it.....Good luck and have fun.  In fact, my spinning class begins at 6:45pm this evening.

yeah go to target and buy a padded bike seat.  They sell them for about 8 dollars, you can get one that has gel or just padding...it makes a difference.  Bring a towel, and at least 2 bottles of water...one to drink during and one to drink at the end.  Take it easy at first, you don't have to turn up your resistance every time they do....if you can't handle it....and the instructor does make allt he difference in the world. Ugh....had to change my plans so we didn't get get to take the spinning class. It's again on Thursday, so we're gonna hit it then. Thanks for all your help.

I did, however, have a GREAT run on the treadmill and the best upper-body work-out I've had in ages. You know the type...where it's hard to wash your hair in the shower afterward. And even now, typing is a little iffy. Do they make a Tylonol protein supp? j/k

They offer those classes at my gym on Tuesdays, the lady that runs them is a nurse and I explained about my surgery and so forth. She told me she'd be happy for me to join in and to just go at my own pace. Each week she has a different theme. Last week was biking thru Hawaii and she had Hawiaan music playing and people wore Hawaiian shirts. I mentioned the spinning and wanting to get a bike to my doctor and he was all for it and that I should also get a pair of bicycle shorts-the "nut huggers" that have padding in the crotch
for added comfort.
