I am going in for my long awaited surgery on Tuesday at Kaiser Fremont with Dr Hahn. I am excited as well as a little nervous. There are so many different opinions of how the surgery goes and what to eat, it is very confusing! My wife and I went shopping yesterday and I think we have everything that I am going to need for my stage I and stage II diets. Any helpful tips or suggestins from all of you 'losers'  TIA Dave
Waiting impatiently for my surgery date!

Congrats on your date, hope all goes well for you.  Which surgery are you having? as far as stage I and II, well I am not sure what those are.  After Surgery my doctor has his patient go to puree foods while still in the hospital. For the Puree diet - Chilli was best thing ever.  Also Make sure you have fat free cottage cheese - you can use it to thicken just about anything.

Brent, Any particular kind of chili? This is the best news I have heard yet, I love chili! Dave

Nalley's has always been my choice and has worked for me.  I like to add cheedar cheese and was able to - no problem.  If the fat is too much for you there is reduced fat cheedar out there too.

Good Luck on your surgery tomorrow.  Be sure to follow your doctor's orders after surgery.  Then do the steps and drink the water.  Walking and drinking water will do wonders for you after surgery.  My prayers go out to you.

Thanks for the well wishes. I am have the Lap Rou en Y procedure done. I am on the Phospo - soda right now to get ready...not so much fun. I plan on sticking with my exercise routine and chugging the water and protein.  Dave

Good luck and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Keep us posted and continue to look for guidance here. This place has been invaluable to me. Early on you'll be better off eating whatever your doc advises. After a month or so you can experiment.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
