Tour de Fat ROCKS the Rockies!

AWESOME experience....what a thrill for me to finish my 7-day 515 mile romp through the Rocky Mountains on my bicycle. The sights, sounds and smells of the mountains were inspiring to say the least let alone the physical challenges of the ride with all the mountain climbing.  I rode strong the entire week and accomplished two of my three major goals for the ride. I topped my one mile for every pound I weighed before WLS goal as I added a 65 mile tough wind, frickin' riddled ride on our day off so I could top 500 miles.....so 7 days of riding in a row with no rest day for me. I also rode the complete routes every day without having to stop except at every other  designated aid station. Completed every mountain climb without stopping! My one goal I missed was not topping 60 mph going down 12,000+ Cottonwood Pas**** 56 mph but got hung up in bike traffic during the descent so had to scrape some speed with the brakes. Close enough for now.  I'm still high from the feeling of accomplishment.  Later fellas, Boner

Thanks, Captain! It was certainly a thrill for me to accomplish the Ride the Rockies which was my "dream goal" coming out of WLS. No longer a dream thanks to the miracles of modern day medicine.  Boner

Hey RockyTop, It was a big win for team Tour de Fat after a couple of lackluster performances although the Triple Bypass on July 12 will be the real tale of the tape. How's your bikin' going?  Boner

Very cool Boner! Nice job on your accomplishments. I can only immagine the front wheel wobble at 60mph on the bike.  That and the melting brake pads. Scott

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!

Thanks Scott. No wheel wobble but I could start to smell the brake pads further down the mountain. How's the new bike working out for you?  Boner

Doing good, I have softened up the saddle, so that helps, I changed the angle on the handlebars to help me be a bit more upright for now.  I will swap them back once I get in better shape and can tolerate that angle more. I have had a couple 10 mile rides, and it's about 8 miles worth or riding going back and forth to work, which I can do 4 times a week..   So far, I think it is a good thing.  I'm deffinately going to keep doing it.   Scott
