Weight loss Window?

I'm aware that those of us fresh out of surgery have a certain "window" to lose our excess weight and then what? After the window is closed what happens? Are we not able to lose any more weight or just not as fast, or what? I'm confused! Thanks guys.

All the "window" means is that the "easy part" is over.  As you lose weight (and this is a general observation--nothing to do with surgery), the successive pounds become harder to lose because you are carrying around less weight and therefore expending less energy.  (There's a reason why guys who weight 400+pounds will lose 150 pounds in the first six months without breaking a sweat, and why the next 150 pounds come off more slowly!) That's why focusing on your activity and exercise becomes increasingly important as the time goes out.  Plus, over time, we increase our food choices and the amount of foods eaten; if you've lost all the weight you want, we call that GOOD.  If it happens too soon, we call it "letting bad habits creep back in!"  What you can count on is that the surgery doesn't suddenly become ineffective after this "window" of time passes such that you can't lose any more weight; it just means that you have to try harder than you did in the first post-op months.  On the other hand, I feel like I've clawed and scraped for each one of the 95 pounds I've lost so far, and none of 'em have come off easy, so I expect to keep trying as hard or harder to get rid of the additional 75-85 pounds I'd like to.  I'm ready to admit that the last 25 pounds are going to be the hardest and the slowest, but that doesn't mean I won't do my best. /Steve

I agree with Steve, also your pouch (with RnY) will stretch a little. At first you will not want to eat, your cal. in take will be around 600 cal. and eating will be something you do but not want to do. Of course this is a general statement. So its important to build habits at this time that will carry you through once you loose and are trying to maintain. C'ya Bob
