Hi all, I haven't posted in a really long time due to work and frankly just sick of the "process"  the insurance company put me through. Finally, my RnY was approved and I have a date for July 1!!! Man this day has taken a long time to get here, but I've been ready for years! I plan on spending more time on here and look forward to talking to you guys! A couple of questions though... clothing... is there an exchange program on this site? If not, ebay? 2nd, what protein shakes are you guys using? powder? canned? Thanks for the input and we'll be in touch!

Great News John! I still use the 17g protein EAS shakes for the price under 6 bucks at Wal-Mart for four shakes. Also use the New Whey Protein Bullets 42g or the one Wal-Mart carries (Super Whey Protein $1.95 ea.) which are 26g but easier for me to choke down, because they're not as sweet. I also use the All Whey non flavored protein powder, I get it at GNC. Congrats again. C'ya Bob

John, Congrates on your date! It’ll be here before you know it. Early on I used protein Supplements But haven’t for a while… I’m sure there’s tons of stuff out there now that wasn’t around 5 years ago. Holler out any questions And get your ducks in a row! Best Wishes- Dx

Welcome!!  Clothing...What you really need to do is try and borrow from friends and family first.  You will go through so many different sizes that it is a waste of time (or waist of time) to buy expensive stuff that you only use a few weeks.  I asked my nephews for some old clothes.  I'm still wearing his pants he gave away to me (size 38).  Also hit the Goodwill, Salvation Army, and thrift stores.  Or buy cheap (Walmart or Target).  Once you have thought you are through losing...It starts up again. Concerning the whey protein...Just don't go wild on any one protein shake.  Your taste really do change and what is ok pre WLS is terrible after WLS.  Also look to support groups in your area for both clothes and samples of protein shakes.  Good luck and ask away...I'm sure there are a ton of guys pre op thinking the same things.  Brian

I have been buying Body Fortress Whey Protein at Walmart, $12 something for a large can of powder and has 26 grams of protein per scoop.  The cookies & Cream flavor is on the sweet side, but the chocolate is not too bad, I have not tried the Vanilla yet.

I also purchase Pure Protein Bars ($6.50 for 6 Bars), that make a great meal on the go.  Depending on the flavor they hav 18 to 20 grams of protein per bar.

July 1st is right around the corner.  Good luck!

I like the Nectar proteins. They are expensive at the stores but I found them reasonably cheap at www.advantagessupplements.com.
