You are in your first transitional phase.  Eat what you can.  I was told to put what I can't tolerate aside and try it again in another 2-3 weeks.  Some foods I left alone for longer than that.  It will get better.

Try eating less, much less. A little bite and then stop.  Eat slower, and chew really well. These early advances of diet are the trickiest. It does get easier. If you throw up once, then your pouch/stomach will be irritated and easily upset for the rest of that day. Back off to something really easy to tolerate and when your stomach has calmed down It should get easier. Curiosity... What are you eating for your first solids? Many docs advance their patients slowly from liquids, to full liquids, to mushy/pureed foods, and then to mechanically soft (like soft scrambled eggs) before advancing on to actual solid food. Some docs are not that conservative. If there are "softer" options on your docs recommended list, Go for those first. Keep that doc on speed dial if you start having trouble keeping down liquids. Hope you are feeling better soon.

my dr said i can eat anything i can cut with a fork. so ive been eating scrambeled eggs, cottage cheese, ff yogurt, turkey breast (deli), canned tuna, and canned chicken breast along with my skim milk and 2 quarts of clear liquids. i dont eat much at all  maybe once a day or every other day. he said to start off really slow like that and add more meals and such as time goes on. is that wrong?

Turkey and tuna were hard for me, too dry. Try staying with moist foods. Try some light mayo with the tuna if you haven't. Anything dry seemed to gum up and make me hurt or throw up for the first few months. Good luck bud.

Check with your doctor to rule out strictures.

I found that the cottage cheese and mushed baked beans (just check the labels for fat and sugar content to pick out an appropriate one) were staples for my first few weeks.  Like others have said the first few weeks are the most difficult to deal with eating.  All of a sudden, I was able to tolerate larger volumes, now about 4 ounces at a time, which has really helped me get more of my protein from my diet and not as much from supplements.  Also keep in mind that something that settles well now many not settle as well in a month.

Good luck and like others have said if you keep throwing up, contact your MD.

My experience at that stage was that I needed plenty of moisture in my solids to get them to stay down. Turkey did not work at all for a couple of months and tuna only worked if it was slimed up with a ****load of lo-cal mayo. If you're getting enough protein through shakes, then oatmeal, maltomeal,  cream of wheat and grits are pretty good ways to get a few calories at this stage. I ate the **** out of grits during weeks 2, 3, and 4.

After the two weeks of liquid only, my doc had me go to nothing firmer than baby food for two weeks, then I was allowed to slowly add other foods. For me, things like turkey and tuna (dry foods) did not work well for a long time, as has been said, too dry. Do try to get some fiber in the diet and CHEW IT VERY WELL, drink a lot of water also lest you get the dreaded attack of "cant****itus" I would go 3 or 4 days without taking a dump, then it was like passing concrete logs. Now that I am eating fruits and veggies as well as my protein, things move along at least once a day and I have not been plugged for a while. Take it slow, follow YOUR doctors advice, we can tell you about our journey but it is YOUR journey that matters most to you! Good luck with the down hill ride, life is SOOOOOOOOO much better with less baggage!
