Yesterday we took Youngest to NKU for college orientation.  NKU is a great state school in KY. He had to spend the night which thrilled him (not).  So anyway everything is spread out all over the campus. I bet I walked over two miles yesterday in the heat. I felt like I was on the Bataan Death March. My one real consolation was seeing all the non WLS people struggling with the same issue. I looked around and there were people who were fat.  There were also a lot of skinny teenagers but there were some fat people. I didn't feel out of place so much because I was not the largest guy. However my muscles are paying for it today. I am so sore and my legs hurt so much from walking and I am sunburned on my bald head.  But he is off to college in the fall and is feeling better. He will live at home and we are not sure how he will get there. He doesn't drive yet. He may be taking the bus He lost 30 lbs by getting a job at Target unloading trucks. He has to be at work at 4 am so we all lose sleep gettin him there. Thanks for letting me vent.

Reminds me of last summer when I took my daughter to her freshman orientation at Baylor University over in Waco. I was about 450 at the time, it was 95 degrees and about 80% humidity during the time that we were taking a walking tour around campus. I was bound and determined not to pet and pamper myself due to my hugeness and so I sucked it up and got around the same as everybody else. But I was dang sure a happy fat boy whenever we'd go inside a building with AC. Luckily for me  the campus is very flat. Any hill work would've wiped me out at that time. Glad you survived your first day of college. Surviving the next 4 years of paying for it may be a different story. It's killin' me. And I got another one coming behind her in a couple of years.

The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

THis my second. The first one dropped out and is manageing at BlockBuster as he tries to sort his life. Another funny thing I noticed was that the speeches for the two boys were almost exactly the same.  Two different colleges two different states same speeches. I am at 380 right now with lymphadema in both legs (really severe swelling) so the heat and walking do a real number on them. I can't wear shorts because the legs look too gross from the swelling.  BUt good luck. Except for the paying it gets easier the second time around
