What's your goal? How to get laid and how to find a wife are vastly different goals. At least for most of us.

Looks play a large part of it, but you can work around it. I'd like to think I've had pretty decent success over the years, yet I'm no wilt chamberlain and don't claim to have been with thousands of women. Having yo-yo'd pretty heavily over the year, from 170 to 280 back to 180 then up to 285 I can say there is a huge difference in how much effort it takes to hook up depending on what I look like and I have to use totally different techniques.

Many will say just be yourself, good for them, but in my experience that's not the most productive way to get things done. I honestly am not myself with a girl until after we've been on a few dates because if I'm not that into her it's easier to get laid with some sort of angle. Not saying I'm fake, rather I accentuate different parts of my personality. If I'm 180 I can be the cool athletic guy who rides mountain bikes and snowboards. If I'm 240 I can be the big guy with a big brain, well read and able to converse intelligently in many areas, if I'm 280 all I can do is go for being the funny fat guy, and be a good listener.

Sealing the deal at 180lbs takes an evening. At 240lbs it takes a couple of dates. At 280lbs it's serious work, taking quite a few dates and conversations. At 180 the girls want to sleep with me. At 280 I have to convince them (without outright saying it) that they enjoy my company so much they had better give it up before I start looking for other people to spend my time with.

I haven't been with many women over the age of 40 (1 actually, and I was 20), not sure if that radically changes the game or not.

Believe it or not, women are just as simple as men when it comes to finding a mate.  They may love you for you personality, good nature, etc. AFTER the first few dates, but apperance and money have alot to do with initial attraction-in my opinion.  I would play up the fact that you are an attorney.  To women a guy with a good job equals money which ensures a comfortable life for them should things progress.  If you have a little cash (don't know your financial situation, I've seen millionaires live like paupers due to wasteful spending), look like you do.  Buy some Tommy Bahama shirts, get a tan, buy one of those stupid looking belts with the sea turtles on them (being green is sexy ya' know).  You are basically marketing a product, yourself.

Ugh, the douchebag look. I hate it but there is plenty of evidence it works.

Might want to slap a bluetooth headset in your ear or even two (the double douche!) to complete the look. In all seriousness, I'm not arguing it's effectiveness but not everyone can pull it off. Whatever you do, accentuate your natural pluses trying to pull a makeover into someone else you respect is a recipe for failure.

What the hell, I have few minutes in the commercial break here (watching some racing) so I'll add more useless info.

You'll probably be revamping your image, and rightly so, you look like a new man now. Make sure you can pull the look off. I had a buddy a few years back who called me up and wanted asked me to go test driving cars with him (something I love to do, ditch the salesman and go push the cars a *****e said he wanted to test drive Honda Civic Type R which really surprised me because he was not that cars target buyer. Really nice guy, but not an ounce of boy racer in him, in fact he is the only person I have met who at 30 has not had a single ticket in his life. How the hell do you manage that? This guy doesn't even drive 5mph over, if the speed limit is 55 Dan is driving 54mph just to be on the safe side.

I asked him why he was wanting one and the story came out; He wanted to be cooler. Poor Dan doesn't have the slightest bit of cool, it's just not in him. He wears his damn cell phone on a belt clip for christ's sake. He's that uncool.

He wanted to upgrade his image with the ladies so badly he was willing to drive an uncomfortable impracticle car around so he could pull of the asian boy racer look. Yeah, Dan is asian, but not one of the cool 20 something asians with great hair and a stupid looking ricer that probably appeals to girls that age. He would have pulled up somewhere, setup an expectation, then upon getting out of the car what you saw would have been completely incongruous with the expectation.

So after we test drove the Type R, I talked him into heading over to the Audi dealership. Not because I'm an Audi guy, but because Dan struck me as an Audi guy. He is reliable, trustworthy, mellow, well educated, has a good job and actually saves his money (he actually put 15k down on a 30k car, I don't know anyone else like that). He can pull off the distinguished gentlemen look, he can't pull off the frat boy look.

Six months later Dan calls me up and thanks me profusely, it was so much better fit for him because it was an upgrade, but not a stretch.

Now I'm not saying go buy a new car, but whether it's clothes, subjects of conversations, whatever, make sure it's still you, just the best you that you can show off.

Hmmm  so I take it the Audi got him laid?       As for dressing to impress, I think I'll start wearing one of those caps with a shark's fin on top when I go out ..  because there's something so sexy 'bout a shark-dressed man ..  !        Thanks for all you input on this one, fellas ..  !
