Port Pain
Hey Guys I know it's been a long time but I posted this early this morning on the Lap Band Board and have not gotten any viable advice.
I had my surgery on June 21 2007 so I am almost 1 year out and I have had no problems until now and I have been told by my Surgeon that I should be a poster boy for Lap Band Surgery. I have 7.6 CC's in a 12 CC Band I have now lost 164 pounds since surgery I am Retired and very active including weight training 3 day's a week, Power Walking 5 miles daily, swimming 3 times a week and Bicycling 5 days a week a minimum of 10 miles a day.
I have shed an excessive amount of weight and I am starting to get abdominal muscles that are actually visible however just this morning I started getting very tender around my Port Area. I can right now fill my Port through my skin the entire outline feels as if it is just under the skin. It hurts to bend, squat or kneel not to mention the extreme pain getting off the commode. I have a very high tolerance to pain but this hurts, I actually took one of the Pain Pills the Surgeon give for after surgery. It hurts to badly to sleep and I have twice called the answering service of my Surgeon with no results. Does anyone have any suggestions?
D,
Keep any pressure off of it till you can get to the doc.
Like a sore tooth, the natural tendency will be to keep "checking" to see how it feels.
repeat touching will only aggravate most pains.
(for example don't keep touching and don't have restrictive clothing "mashing" on it.)
Check for any redness or swelling, which could indicate some infection.
Cold Compress (crushed ice or frozen peas in a bag)
wrapped in a soft thin towel could help some.
How recently did you get a fill? Any sign of injection sight initiating the pain?
If it keeps stabbing pain and if there is any sign of redness/swelling (infection)
call you doc's answering service and tell them to meet you at the emergency room.
Don’t lose your “poster-boy” status over this!!
Get better soon and report back when you get the conclusive reason for the problem.
That way when someone has it happen to them in the future,
They will have more of an idea..
Yes?
Congratulations on your loss.
Hope you are doing MUCH Better very soon!
Best Wishes-
