OT: Solar Powere Fountains

I was watching the show, "I want that!" on the FLN network a few weeks ago and one of the items was a solar powered bird bath.  It's a regular bird bath with a solar panel that works a spray at the top of the bird bath.  I was intrigued because we always had bird baths when I was growing up.  I ordered one from www.simplyfountains.com for about $100 and we gave it to my Dad for Father's day.  It took all of about 5 minutes to put together.  My Dad set it up in a nice sunny spot in his back yard, filled it with water, and watched as it started to work within a few minutes.  It's cool to have a water feature that doesn't require any wiring or plumbing. They have a wide variety of fountains available.  They're having a sale on an interesting one that looks like a pitcher that pours water into succeeding lower bowls until the water gets to the base and is pumped back to the top.  That model is currently going for $88.  They all have a very small footprint and work best in full sun.  However, you may even want one for a patio or balcony if you at least get sun for part of the day. We were able to watch my Dad's from inside his breezeway.  And, we could even hear it despite the sound of an overhead fan.  It was also fun to see it stop when the sun went behind a cloud and start back up when it got full sunlight.  Cool!
