18 months....6.2 mile FART
Hi guys,
Yesterday was a year and a half since surgery. I weighed 324, today I weigh 164. I bounce back and forth from 160 to 165 or so, low is 156. The real FART was I ran in my first 10K. I have ran farther but not in a timed event. My time was 58:59, which comes out to a 9:30 pace. Could have ran faster but I kept telling my self it's hot and 6.2 is a long way so I held back for the first half and then I tried to pick it up a little each mile after that. I still have a problem pacing my self or maybe I should say knowing what my pace is.
I then came home and my wife worked me like a borrowed mule. Dec. 14, 2006 I would have told you that you were crazy if you told me I would be running 6.2 miles. Moral to this story, don't sell your self short. what started the running thing for me was my grandson. Last fall he and I were playing in the yard with water guns I ran away from him so he couldn't get me. He said" Poppy you can run", and I was like damn I can. We ran after each other for about a half hour. I then started working in a litte jogging into my walking.
Happy Fathers day guys,

PH,
Understand how the "honey do" list operates! Counting married and dating time have 21 years in on this end. I was a good boy today and made the rounds with the Mrs. to Wal-Mart, Home Depot etc. Glad I did. Found a pair of jeans, shorts and bib overalls that fit right. My others are getting way to big since loosing 70 lbs.
Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
in case i didn't say it before, you rock! i keep reading your running adventures and i'm really proud of you. as if that means anything. keep up the great work. i pulled back a little on distance myself because i just started swimming too. lifting, running and swimming are a little tough right now but hell, you only go around once and i'm going for it too........carbonblob
