Psych Stuff

You definitely need to get some professional psychiatric help or you're better off not getting the surgery at all. Nothing to be ashamed of. The brain is an organ just like your kidneys and your heart. Having addiction issues isn't a problem with you as a person. It doesn't mean you have a defective soul. It just means that your brain was mis-programmed and needs to be tweaked and adjusted to function properly.
My wife was saying to me the other day "Since I can't use food to make me feel better, I actually have to face the things that make me stress out". You will learn to deal with life's speedbumps without using food. Eventually, you'll be able to look at food as nourishment only, not a drug.
You can do this. Really, the differences between the procedures aren't that great. It comes down to how you learn to use it.

Knowing I have a big problem with food similar to yours, that's why I chose the most restrictive of surgeries and the one with the least chance for regain  --  DS.  It's not fool-proof (and I'm a fool iwth a tool maybe), but as close as can be of what's out there.  So far I have only gained about 5 lbs. back out of a 210 lb. loss.     (now if I can just lose the remaining 60 or so lbs.!)  ..    You can always consider DS instead of RNY if you do have fears of experiencing a major regain b/c of "food restriction issues".  (btw, Dr. Ganta does do DS!)
