Dx,
I too am surprised at how affected I am by Tim Russert's death. I find it particularly touching coming, as you noted, so close to Fathers Day, especially since he so loved his own father (who has the added sorrow of outliving his son.)
Russert's reflections on the character, modesty, grit, hard work of so many of the fathers of the WWII generation remind me of what's possible when we don't put ourselves first.
We've lost one of our more principled journalists at a time when they're rarer and rarer.
RIP

He was a great man and a great force. We read both his books and watched him almost weekly. We sat in disbelief during the 6:30 news. G-d works in very strange ways. He had just met with the Pope this week!
He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts to this family.
