Dx, I too am surprised at how affected I am by Tim Russert's death. I find it particularly touching coming, as you noted, so close to Fathers Day, especially since he so loved his own father (who has the added sorrow of outliving his son.) Russert's reflections on the character, modesty, grit, hard work of so many of the fathers of the WWII generation remind me of what's possible when we don't put ourselves first. We've lost one of our more principled journalists at a time when they're rarer and rarer. RIP

Doug, I wonder if it is the fact that I’m nearing my own ‘mid-50’s’ or that Meet the Press has been nearly as an integral part of my life as church. Or my own father’s recent passing…… Not sure, but Russert’s passing certainly leaves a huge hole in integrity. Best Wishes- Dx

We never really know if this is the last day or not.  I agree he was one of the last of the greatest.  God be with his family.

Always felt he was good asking tough questions to both sides of the aisle.  He never got flustered asking tough followup questions too, if he felt the politician was ducking the question.  Brian

He was a  very rare bread in journalism these day, with honesty, integrity and grace.  We lost a very good man today, indeed. JP

He was a great man and a great force.  We read both his books and watched him almost weekly.  We sat in disbelief during the 6:30 news.  G-d works in very strange ways.  He had just met with the Pope this week!

He will be sadly missed.  Our thoughts to this family.
