I get e-mails from www.LivingXL.com .  They sell products for larger peoplle--not clothes!  I see that they have a variety of bicycles that all support people up to 500 lbs.  The single speed model is$499.95 +$105.00 for S&H.  The 3 speed is $659.95 +$105.00S&H.  The Universal Tricycle (a recumbent) is$1,299.95+$210S&H.  They all have fenders and chain guards.  The single and three speed bikes come in Men's and Women's models.

I got an e-mail about these too. I think they are massively over-priced and probably just a regular off the shelf model with larger tires or something, but I would love to hear from anyone who has tried one.

I'd really like to get a bike and start trying to ride again when I get down to around 300.

If you use the link to get to their site and then take the link for the bikes, you can look at the descriptions of the individual bikes.  They are not just regular off the shelf bikes.  There are several modifications that enable them to carry heavy loads.  As to their price, only the buyer can determine whether they are worth it.  Most special bikes are quite pricey these days.

I was 410 when I bought my bike and it cost me $475 but it’s a Gary Fisher. Mountain bike. It’s not the frame that you have to worry about it’s the wheels. The amount of spokes on the wheels and what the wheel is made out of determines how much weight the bike can carry. Tarpon
