Is this dumping?

I had a bit of a challenging meal today. It's day-7 since my rebirth and I whipped up a batch of mashed potatoes and some blended chile.
I had a couple spoonfulls of the potatoes and got a weird feeling in my chest/upper abdomen. It was kind of a constricting along with a metallic thrill. Sorry, but that's the only way I can describe it.
It felt really unsettling so I put my spoon down and chilled a little bit. After a couple minutes it subsided and I kept eating, but this time really chewing the potatoes. I moved on to the pureed chile and finished my meal. The feeling came back afterwards, but less intense.
I still don't feel 100% normal and I've since had my vitamins and some H20. Stomach feels stuffed though I've had far more water than the total volume of my pouch.
Any ideas?

Syn, Sounds more like simple too much to quickly... an "over-filling' of the pouch. That "Chest constriction" is a common description When folks put a bite too much in too quickly.... And the "feeling not quite right" can last A while after the incident has past. For Everything I know about Dumping?- *see post above. Hang in there. These first couple of weeks suk for everyone, But- IT DOES GET EASIER EACH WEEK! Best Wishes- Dx

True Dumping from what I've been told is usually comes from digesting to much sugar and fat.  Symptoms are cramping, diarrhea, vomiting, sweats, shakiness much like low blood sugar.  Now I've had two strictures (this is were scar tissue constricts which prevent you from swallowing food as it tightens eventually you can't swallow liquids) which feels like food is caught in your throat after about the third bite. Then foam starts coming up, extra saliva, pressure then vomiting. Strictures I've been told are common with WLS 1 in 4 will get one 1 in 7 will have a re-occurring problem. I know one girl that has had seven dilations. I will actually go in Friday (the 13th) to have my second stricture taken care of. C'ya Bob

Thank you. Sounds exactly like what happened.

Ok, I have a tougher one for you. I'm worried I may be addicted to pain medication. Is there a physical way to tell? I've been cutting back a bit. Can I quit this stuff cold turkey or is it advisable to do it more slowly.

Love the new avatar, by the way.

Just 7 days since they cut up your chittlins?

I wouldn’t think that was enough time to develop an addiction to your pain-meds, But, give your doc a call in the morning and check it out. A nice nurse will call you back later in the day with great, Med-profession-based opinion. I wouldn’t go ‘cold-turkey’ with them, And certainly not prior to 10 days. Use them as directed. "Enjoy them while they’re legal" Has always been my motto. Hope you are hitting on all cylinders again soon! Best Wishes- Dx

No I wouldn't be a dump.  Dumping is the sweats, the low bloodsugar feeling, and bad cases are the squirts, cramps,  Sounds like you ate too fast.  I did that the first time I ate anything after surgery.  I had some scrambled eggs in the car while going to see my son in the hospital after he broke his leg.  Longest car ride in my life.   I thought I'd take a sip of milk to wa**** down.  BIG BIG BIG MISTAKE.  It just made it worse.  By the time I got to the hospital it was ok, but man it sucked.
