Wow - how far things have come. Two years ago this July, I weighed well over 600 lbs, and could barely walk from our apartment to the van when my wife brought it around (about 50 feet) This July 4th, Huntington Beach, California is having the "Surf City 5K Run / Walk". My wife and I are going to do it.  I can't wait.  I'm probably just going to walk it - running isn't really possible yet.  Not sure I'll ever run a whole lot, but walking it is accomplishment enough. w00t!  Can't wait!! Anyone else within driving distance to Huntington Beach want to join us? http://www.surfcityrun.com

Dave, If you are anything like me, after completing this 5K you will want to do more. I am getting ready to sign up for another on my birthday.  I did not ever think I would love walking. But the chills and feelings of accomplishment you get at the finish line are like nothing else you have ever felt. Best of luck and enjoy the walk.

Walk/Run -- It doesn't matter.  Getting out there with everyone else and finishing is what counts.  Go get em.

Awesome Dave.   Congrats man!

Don't worry about walking or running.  It's all about COMPLETING not COMPETING!   That's my motto for every race and triathlon I do.   No way I'm gonna win but you can bet your ass I will BEAT the course and finish.   :)

Once again, congrats and best of luck in your future races!
