Greetings Gents
Welcome to OH and the Locker Room specifically. IF you want to hide it from then you can use the old gastrict issues or hernia repair. very similar location and recovery. If you don't care who knows, go with the cold hard truth.
I just told my boss I needed to take off 2 weeks starting June 3rd, he had no issues with it.I am a week out and am ready to go back already, can't until Dr clears me tomorrow
Feeling anxious is normal. Everyone has different ‘take’ on “how much time” they needed. If the RNY is Laproscopic, it takes much less recovery time Than if it is Open. It also depends on the general health prior to surgery. Many find that increasing their exercise (walking, etc) Prior to surgery, makes the recovery easier. Jump on in with specific questions and you’ll find that the guys here have plenty of experience to draw from. Best Wishes- Dx

I had decided to be very open with the people I work with. I had to be on a liquid diet for 4 weeks pre-op and I knew that there would be questions, so I made sure to talk with my close friends before hand, because I wanted them to hear it from my mouth. Word will travel quickly.
I am glad I was open about it. The majority of people were very supportive of me, most of the who thought I was jumping into surgery would talk with me about it. One or two people just could not keep their mouths shut about how I should not have RNY. By explaining to my friends why I had make this decision and by going over all this information, it just made me that much more sure that I was doing the right thing. One woman would wail "I don't want you to have the surgery!" every time I entered the room. I finally told her to shut up in a nice way, explaining that she was entitled to her opinion, but it was not helping me for her to behave in this manner. (the whole time I said this my mind was saying shut the F up!)
You should share as much information as you feel comfortable with. If you need to vent about your co-workers, feel free to post, I think we have all had these experiences.

Hi all, I am new to the locker room. I am 13 days post-op. Doing extremely well with my recovery. Just wanted to ask this question. Does the Family Medical Leave Act still exist? If so then he should be able to get the sixteen weeks guaranteed by the F.M.L.A. to cover a medical leave for himself or to care for a loved one. Worth looking into if it still is available. I used to work at a county agency, and alot of the men would use it for when the wives gave birth. To be at home to assist with after the delivery and all. Good board, alot of good information. Had my bypass on 5-29-08 (399.4lbs), was discharged on 06-01-08 (389.6lbs). Have been walking up to the gym at our fire house to weigh in since 06-02-08. Turns out it's exeactly one mile round trip. I go every day to get my mile in and to see the weight coming off. Didn't like todays results I put on (1.8lbs) since yesterday. But (372.2lbs) is alot better than the (429.3lbs) I was on 01-02-08 when I went for my Phsyc Eval. Like a recovering alcholic I take it one day at a time. Also I just started to add pureed foods into my diet as per the nutrionist. So that might have contributed to it. Dam cottage cheese....lol
