Hi... I'm Mike.
I'm originally from New Orleans, then moved to Lafayette in '05. Had issues with my weight since my early 20's.
I was one of those people that never considered WLS. I've had one friend that was successful after her RNY, and another friend that is getting her lap band in July. I've been 'dieting' since the start of this year, and I've been losing about 1# a week. At this rate, I'll reach my goal in ohhhhh... two more years.
Besides, I'm trying the same things to lose weight - should I really expect different results? Shoot, that's crazy.
Mrs. Lobsta and I are going for initial consults next month, and I'm looking forward to learning more about WLS.
Oh gosh, Mike....there's so much to learn and to enjoy and to LIVE after a WLS day!
Pls, read any of our posts, and click on the poster's name to see our Profiles...we're a grand bunch of Locker Room lads and we all - to a man - have regained our lives because of our WLS!
There's diff types, there's diff complications, there's poster boys here, there's...well...there's everything you might think you'd find in such a diverse group of men....
Couple of things to note....your mileage may vary...by which I mean that what you find happening to you will often as naught, be the same or not the same as what others of us have experienced...and that's a good thing.
Ask away. We're ready to support any man who enters our Locker Room...and we've got some pretty talented, terrific guys here who can help any/all questions you might have....
Enjoy! And we'll make room over here on the postOP side'a the room soon as you're ready!
Jim

I read your profile. Now I see that you didn't just start dieting this year. Have your doctor keep track of your dieting so he can use it as you 6 months of medically supervised diet (usually required by ins prior to surgery). List all medical problems as comorbidities regardless of why you have them or when they started. I'm sure that your weight makes them wore. Have your wife do the same thing. Keep posting here and have your wife look at the Main Forum.
Welcome Mike!! You have definately come to the right place! There is so much information contained in the forums on this site. Just about anything you can think of has probably been asked at one time or another. I joined in Jan of this year and used the forums extensively in researching WLS. It helped me make my choices intelligently. I wanted to read all about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Like they guys said, "your results may vary". There's a great group of guys here who are always more than willing to help another guy on his "journey". Don't be a stranger, and ask away. There's no stupid or dumb questions, so feel at ease, your with a bunch of guys here. It's a great place to hang out. Good Luck.
Welcome to the Men’s Board. I’m just Up the river a bit in Mississippi! We’ve had quite a few here Who have gone through WLS with their wives Very successfully. Hope all works out for you. Throw out any questions or thoughts. The guys here are more than free with passing on their experience. Best Wishes- Dx
