The Tour de Fat hits the boob tube
My 10 year old daughter Sarah, my "cycling buddy", and I went down to the local CBS affiliate yesterday and got interviewed for a "feel good" story they're putting together for the mid-June Ride the Rockies cycling event.
We discussed WLS and how I had set my ultimate fitness goal following WLS was to someday be able to complete the 7 day annual trek through the mighty Rocky Mountains. CBS will be following my progress throughout the ride as they do a nightly update on how the ride is going and they'll report my progress as the "former fat man done good."
One interesting question they asked me was whether cycling had become a passion for me. I told them that I didn't think cycling had become my passion but never allowing myself to ever go back to being obese was my passion. Cycling was the means to that end. I do very much love to ride my bike and, to me, nothing could be finer than scooting around town with Sarah on our bikes which is something I was unable to do when I was obese.
It was great to be able to provide such a thrill for my daughter as she will be telling all her buds at school today that she and pops are going to be on TV.
Life is good!

Some people chose to keep their WLS a secret and I respect that. But people like you are what encourage others to take a look, maybe even a different look at WLS. Who knows maybe some CEO who in the past disallowed WLS as part of their company insurance might rethink his/her decision. I guess you never know what impact you will have in others lives if you don't put yourself out there. Good Job Boner, I'm proud to know you. C'ya Bob
