I've stalled 2 weeks out?

I thought I'd post this here for some honest advice.

I lost all of my weight in the first 10 days after surgery. since then I've lost.... nothing. Fluids and protien are FINALLY there... but I've not exercised except today. However I don't think that's my issue.

Has anyone tried the minute maid lite lemonade with 5 calories? Is it possible that it's making me not lose? It IS on my surgeon's list, but I've been getting most of my fluid this way since day 11. I've stopped drinking it today and switched back to water, but I'm curious as to if it can stall, and if so, a warning to the guys

> I lost all of my weight in the first 10 days after surgery. since then I've lost.... nothing. If you didn't lose much weight in the months or weeks immediately before your surgery, then most of that two week post-op weight loss is going to be fast-n-easy water weight.  All the glycogen in your muscles and liver holds a TON of water, which is liberated (and pissed out) as the glycogen is depleted.  And once that's gone, you hit a wall.  All the easy weight loss (relatively speaking) has already happened.  Now your body has to start burning fat while it starts playing with your mind. Anyway, a 2- or 3-week post-op stall is par for the course.  Most of us have asked the same questions as you have, too! Many of us have step-wise weight loss patterns: stall, stall, stall, lose mucho pounds for a week or two.  Repeat until you reach your goal, or you give up.  /Steve

I agree...stalls are common.  This is not your first or last one...Many to come.  Concerning the exercise, I believe you don't need to exercise.  BUT I believe you do need to move your body.  If you are active...Examples; yard work, housework, walking, repairs, or even just basic movement, (however that is done) will greatly aid in the weightloss.  What I have seen on the boards here and at the support groups is this...Men and younger women tend to lose the weight quickly and have an easier time keeping it off.  The men have an advantage.  The have a larger muscle structure to begin with.  The younger women can move more (the same woman who is 30 can move better than when she is 50).  Those who sit around the house and graze are the ones who don't lose as much and regain their weight (wondering why their WLS didn't work).  Those who move...in any direction will have greater weightloss (physics...more energy than calories burned).  So move if you can...whether at work or at home.  It really makes a difference.  Brian

Thanks guys. I'm still taking it as a sign to stop with all the fake sugars I've been trying to walk through the house at least every two hours just to keep things flowing, maybe I'll up that to every 30 minutes as well.. Gracias.

It looks like you're right where I was about a week ago.  I also had a stall.  I've read many posts about stalls and my surgeon also agrees that this is common.  It's your body trying to figure out what's going on.  You're going to hit "plateaus" during your journey.  When they occur, don't panic, check and make sure you're doing what you're supposed to be doing.  If all that's ok, don't sweat it.  Just keep on and soon enough, you'll be back on your downward trend.  Good luck!  You're doin' fine.  I don't think the lemonade will cause the stall.  By the way, the minute maid sugar free orange aid is fantastic!  It reminds me of the orangeaid that we used to get in little "milk cartons" when I was a kid.  By the way, Greetings from a former SE KY hillbilly

Been there, done that ...

If you go on my profile you will see that within 3 days post-op I was down nearly 20 lbs - Then nothing for a week

Your body has to adjust to the shock of losing all that weight in one shot, as well as the fact that you get VERY dehydrated after surgery. Don't worry, the weight will start coming off again, and on the even brighter side, I have been told, when you stall you are actually losing fat, which ultimately is what we all want to get rid of!

Keep a postive attitude and you will be fine!

Oh I'm not stressing in the least, I could honestly care less, my concern was from whether it was a REAL stall, or a stall created by the lemonade. I had 24 oz yesterday as compared to the 64 oz the day before, and it looks like the scale moved a little bit. So coincidence or not, I'm going with it.

Hi, i''m about 2 1/2 months out.  don't worry about stalls or plateau's. they will happen.  I've pretty much hidden my scale and track all my foods via myfooddairy.com.  (there are other websites that work just as well that people have recommended).   Now I just check every other week and it's working pretty well.  I love the light lemonaid and fruit punch.  I've not had a problem with it, but I only drank it in moderation (one, sometime two glasses a day if it is in the fridge just for some variety).   Keep up the good work!
