I would let your doctor know right away.  You will probably be asked to go to a gastroenterologist.  He will scope your pouch, (stick a camera down your throat past your pouch) to see if you have a stricture or maybe an incision broke.  Stay on top of it now, so there won't be issues later.  Brian

Is the water cold?  Try room temp and see if that makes a difference.  I agree -- call your doc -- no reason not too. CB

If you feel much pain where your stomach is in your abdominal cavity, as in pain to the left of the bottom of your rib cage, then that could be an an indication of a leak. However, being so soon out of surgery, you may just be going too fast. Slow down on the sip sip sipping and just do maybe one sip for now and see how that does you and then increase to some more. Too much too soon can definitely make you feel like you have a problem going on because the tissue in your new pouch is still inflamed and sore from being serrated by a staple gun so keep that in mind as well. Anything that touches the tissue is going to make the nerves light up and you'll feel it for a little bit. But again if the pain is consistent, gets worse, or unbearable then definitely go to the ER, don't wait to call your surgeon because if you have a leak that is one of the most dangerous things about having this surgery. And on that note, I think you're fine. I'm not a doctor, but I had the same feelings as you when I was fresh out. I could take small sips every so often and just went really slowly so everything could have a chance to heal up properly. Good luck! Didn't mean to scare you at all, just want you to be aware of the degree of pain, frequency, and where are you feeling it within your body.

So? What did the doc say? Keep that Doc's office on speed dal for the first couple of weeks. It could be simple as the water too cold Or it could be serius crap. Only the doc can tell you for sure. Hope you're feeling better soon. Best Wishes- Dx

I had the same problem, I never thought to call the doc because I didn't feel sick and I just figured it was because my stomach was sore and inflamed. Only time I notice it now is if I slip and take to big of a drink.

If it is a concern I would call the doc right away.
