At what point do sizes start coming off?
Hi Guys!
I'm 6'0" and started out at 434lbs, wearing mostly 7XB clothing.
Since my surgery I've lost around 80 lbs, but my clothes size s have really only gone down to around the 6XB range.
At what point did clothing sizes start to come off more quickly for you? I'm wondering if I should buy any significant amount of 6XB clothing, or wait.

It happens pretty quick! Rveryone is different but when it happens it happens almost week by week. I found iw as wearing clothes that were too tight before wls so it took awhile to get out of the tho old clothes. I wouldn't buy a lot of anything until you reach the bottom of the ride. I started out in 4x at 384lbs. I thought i was done at 2x or a tight xl and now I am down to a medium or very loose large. My wife is on a first name basis with the ladies at the thrift store as I see no reason to spend money on new clothes until I have stabilized at a size. Plus she loves to find great clothes for a quarter or at the most a dollar. I went out the other day wearing an outfit that at retail would have cost over 200 and it cost me about a dollar and 75 cents.

Hey Steve - I don't know if I can be of much help, since i'm 1 month post-op. But when I started this journey (in January). I was up to a size 56 pants. I lost about 20lb. pre-op diet and then around 30 since surgery. I recently fit comfortably into a size 50 pants. As far as shirt sizes, I was a 4xl and I am now down to a comfortable 3xl. I'm looking forward to a 2xl during the summer. Each body is different, and the weight comes off at different places (if it were me, all this weight would come off my belly). You've done a great job with your loss. Keep it up. Thing will happen just as long as you use your WLS properly as a tool. Don't forget to exercise also, It also makes the weight drop a little faster. Good luck on your journey! By the way I'm 5'11.5" and started out at 385. So I'm not that much different than you.
Like the others have said, it might take a while to see any big changes if your clothes were too tight to begin with. My experience was that my pant sizes changed much much faster than shirt sizes.
I started out at 6' 360lbs wearing 4xlt (should have been 5xlt but I refused to wear them) and 50" pants, now I am wearing XL or L and 34" pants. I still have about 20-25 pounds that I want to lose, so I have no idea where I am going to end up because I have already exceeded my expectations. I figured when I started this journey that I would end up in XL and maybe size 36" pants.
I wouldn't spend too much money on 6x as you probably won't be in them for a month. My personal rule was to skip a size before I bought any clothes (new or used). Even doing that though I never got more than a few shirts and a couple pairs of pants for each size.
Thirft stores, Target, and Wal-Mart were my friends during the first 12 months of losing 241lbs. Went from 4XL shirts to Large. Went from 58 waist pants to 36. Make sure you save one of your old shirts and pants so you can try them on once in a while to remind you of where you started.
Good Luck,
Tim
I'm almost six months out, down 125# and can't wear my 5x shirts anymore. I'm in size 40 jeans and almost ready for 38s. I have found that I have no eye for when my clothes are too big. I used to love them being too big because I thought they "hid" me. Now I find that clothes that fit seem tight and revealing to me. I rely on my wife to tell me when something looks too baggy until I relearn what looks right.

Steve!
Awesome Loss Dude!
Congratulations!
The weight will keep on falling so don’t spend too much
On the “Transition Sizes.”
Hold on to that cash for a bit longer.
Starting in 58Waist pants and 5XL shirts,
I was so happy to buy 2XL’s that I bought some great ones,
Only to have them look like choir robes in a few months.
Now in Medium shirts and 35W GAP Jeans which I was in
By the 14th month post-op.
Buy cheap while dropping.
Wait for the days of Armani Suits!
It won’t be long!!!
Keep it Up!
Best Wishes-

Thanks for the info and encouragement.
Looks like I will hold off on buying anything expensive at this point.

Congrats on the weightloss so far! If at all possible you shouldnt "waste" too much money on clothes because you're going to blow through them pretty quickly. Of course if you have to look really nice for work you may have no choice. I try to get away with it until i'm about 2 sizes too big and then I squeeze into a couple new outfits that will hopefully last a month or two.
Personally, I'm 6'6" and started off at 450 lbs and a 5-6xlt, 4 months later I'm down 150 lbs and I have a wedding on Friday so my wife picked me up a new outfit in 2XLT tonight, I couldnt beleive that it was way too big....I was shocked!! Guess it's about time to go shopping again....haha
