I got a call from my surgeon's office today and they had a cancelation and wanted to move me up from June 10th to next Tuesday May 27th.  I arranged for coverage at work and I took the date.  So i am only 8 days away from joining all you wonderful men on the loser's bench.  This forum has been a wealth of information for me in preparation of my RNY surgery.  I also have been inspired by all your success stories.  Thank You for your help, inspiration and I hope to join all you guys soon on the losing side.

Great and good luck.

Work is for those who don't know how to fish.

I was at the Hospital all morning today.  Blood work, chest x-ray, ekg.  Went to meet with an Anesthesiologist and his PA.  Everything looks good and they found no reasons not to do the surgery next week.  I am excited but at the same time nervous........i know everything will be o.k.  i am making a change for the better and my future will be brighter because of it.  Thank you guys for all the encouraging words. Rob,

Congratulations and good luck! Weigh to go Loser!

I wanted to pass on a "weird" but effective piece of advice I got right before my surgery (3 months ago).  I was told that shaving the back of my wrist and upper arms would save me all kind of pain.  Since the glue/tape they use now is almost like welding it on, the removal of the hair in the areas where we get the IV, blood tests, antibiotics, etc. prevented those little suckers from getting caught in the tape and ripping out each time they changed the IV or gave me a new test/IV.

Sounds weird but it worked!

Again, good luck and we'll save a seat on the loser's bench for you
