Thanks to the guy who posted the link on the General board. I'll probably be around more often now...haha The name's Adam...nice to meet ya! Quick background....Pre-surgery I was 6'6" and 450 lbs.  I was the skinny kid all my life until my metabolism did a 180 at age 18, somehow I managed to double my weight since highschool (I am talented!)  Well anyway, after struggling with my weight over the past decade I decided to get serious and I had Lap RNY Jan 7th 2008. Unfortunately the next day I was rushed back in due to a leak, was opened from chest to belly button to clean out the infection and fix the leak, ended up in kidney failure, respiratory failure, unconcious on a vent for 2 weeks.  Not sure if it was due to the leak or the fact I was given an antibiotic I am allergic to (I guess they missed the red wristband that said NO PENICILLIN) lol.  Anyway I had a REEEEEEALLY rough time but am doing well now. In Physical Therapy for the rotator cuff injury ( I guess i threw too many pitches while unconcious for 2 weeks), my bedsores are almost healed....and I've been exercising like mad since I got the OK last month. At 4 months out I'm down 150 lbs and losing a steady 20 - 30 lbs / month. Hope to be at goal weight by the end of summer!!

Your welcome Adam.  Sometimes I really take the heat over there on the Main Board...But I just invite.  If a guy likes this place they will stay...If not...find your support somewhere.  Men lose their weight really fast after WLS.  You should be at goal in no time.  Brian

Adam, Welcome.  Sorry to hear about all your post-op issues, but glad you are on your way. The Men's Forum is a great place for us guys to ask questions and get answers, and there are virtually never any discussions that require several rounds of hugs or angels or 200 emoticons at the end of a message.   However, the guys around here will not shy away from giving a swift kick to the rear if and when it's needed.  What a great place! ((((Hugs))))) Well.......usually that bull**** ain't on here. Anyway, a great big Hubba J Hubba to Adam for surviving WLS and welcome to the board. I admire the **** out of you guys who had a rough go of it and still have a kick ass attitude. Sometimes I think my journey has been too easy. Be sure to keep us posted on the ups and downs of your journey. That's why most of us hang out here.

Hey Adam, Good to see you on the men's board.  Sorry to hear you've had such a rough start - but great to hear such a positive attitude - that sure goes a long way. Keep on posting, and keep up the determination and hard work.

Chuck
