The old "Full" compared to the new "Full"

Hi Guys! Still on the Chantix and still having some wild dreams!  One night I dreamed my schlong was two and a half feet long, and I was banging this chick but we couldn't get close enough to kiss because my dick was so long. lol! Too bad I had to wake up from that one!  I've also reduced the smoking by about 80% most days. (another good side effect of the drug) I want to talk about feeling full since WLS compared to before WLS.  When I was pushing 300 lbs., my usual day consisted of waking up feeling exhausted, drinking as much coffee as I could to get into my large frame .. and doing as little as possible until my first meal at about 3pm. The meal always consisted of large amounts of food and sweets until I was uncomfortable and pretty much needed to sleep because with the diabetes I had, the insulin rush into my bloodstream would practically put me to sleep.  Later on at night I would rinse and repeat the same events as earlier... consuming all the wrong foods until I was about to burst. Then it was time for bed again. What a living hell it was! The thing is though.. that after my feasts I was full for 6 or 7 hours, albeit uncomfortabely full. Now today, post WLS, things are quite a bit different. I'm at 180 lbs. Very thin for my height.. but I like this weight. Last week at work one of the guys handed me two "D" batteries and said "put these in your pockets so the wind wont blow you away!"  So I guess I'm thin enough! Thing is... post WLS I feel like I get full very fast on very little food most of the time... and then I'm hungry again in an hour and a half later. Sometimes I can't even go 3 hours. I don't want to get into "grazing", but it almost feels like that's what I'm doing sometimes because the hunger comes back so fast. What do you guys say on this topic?? Thanks!  "The Beast!"

Dex!  ..and some others who gave me advice in an earlier thread about feeling fatigued all the time. I started taking the B-50 vitamins a couple weeks ago..twice a day along with my multi-vitamin..and I feel so much better already. Thank you guys!!

Beast, "Sometimes I can't even go 3 hours." Me neither, but then I eat every 3 hours like clockwork. Small meals, 5 or 6 around 300 to 400 calories each. Sometimes I’ll have a smaller snacks around 100 calories And then eat larger meals between them. I shoot to get in around 2200 Calories a day. Usually between 1800 and 2400 when I track it for a few days. I’m rarely if ever hungry. I just eat because "It’s Time!" Best Wishes- Dx

Hey, Dx, question for you. I'm almost 5 months out.  I know I'm supposed to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day, (well, as you say more accurately, 6 small meals a day).  I can get in 3 most days, and sometimes a mid afternoon snack.  My "meals" are about 3/4 to 1 cup total volume, and probably under 300 calories each. Will it get better with time?   I had a really hard time the first month or so getting 64 ounces of fluid in each day, but now that's not a problem.  Will it get a little easier with the food, too? Everyone is different, But it has been fairly easy for me to eat over 2000 Calories a day And get in 100+gms of Protein to boot. I started out on "solid foods" later than most But by month 7, I could get in about 5 + cups full of food a day. Someone on another Board recently asked- "How in the World" could someone get in the amount of protein needed without relying on constant supplements? My simple/typical- "What Ya’ll Eat Today" answer? I, like you, and many other Post-Ops Eat multiple meals/feedings per my nutritionist’s recommendation. If Your Doc or Nutritionist recommends otherwise- (and there are some the are adamant about 3 "shakes" a day!) Then DO That! But, In answer to "How in the World?"- This is what works for me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pre-Breakfast De-Caf Coffee with SlimFastLowCarbVanillaCream as creamer -10gms Protein Breakfast- 1 CarbControlYogurt with Special K High-Protein Cereal and usually 2 Tbsp Flaxseed Meal -21gms Protein Mid Morning snack- small apple and handful of SoyNutz -12gms Protein Pre-Lunch De-Caf Coffee with SlimFastLowCarbVanillaCream as creamer -10gms Protein Lunch- 6oz Tuna and a boiled egg and two pickles-51gms Protein Mid-Afternoon Snack- Handful of Soy Nutz and a String cheese -19gms Protein Dinner- 6oz hamburger meatballs with chopped tomato with Textured Vegetable Protein ½ onion and 2 stalks of celery-58 gms Protein Cup of Skim Milk later that evening with bell pepper slices 14 gms Protein ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That brings me to 195gms of Protein for a Day Even Leaving off any coffee with SlimFast (in case one would view creamer as shake) Still leaves me at an easy 175 gms of Protein a day. And calories? With the Coffee creamer substitute it comes to 2125 A little lower than my goal of 2300. I use a calculator to get my target. http://annecollins.com/calories/calorie-needs-men.htm Obviously there are many days where I have closer to 100gms of protein But generally I’m able to stay above that with no problem. And to this I add Vitamins, Calcium, Iron, B-12 shot every month, And enough water to bath in daily. But no potatoes? Noodles? Rice? Nope, very rarely. Protein First, then Veggies, then… I think that the simple Directive that we see so often- – Protein First! Is sort of a core value that will serve one well. At Least, This is what has Worked for Me! "Your Mileage may vary…" This "simple idea" (Without the Supplement Industry’s Support) Has worked for me thus far. At or below goal for right at 4 years. Perfect Labs, perfect Blood Pressure, Better than Great Cholesterol numbers, etc… Healthier now than I was 20 years ago. Lucky? Yeah. Started a bit rougher than most would refer to as lucky. And maybe I’ve done well "In Spit Of" my Poor Dietary intake… But, -- "How in The World can Anyone Get Enough Protein Without Shakes?" Easy! Enough it Seems, To Me… Hang in there. By the end of year one, You’ll be able to eat as you please. The trick is getting "pleased" about eating Healthy, and with "Normal" sized portions. Rather than as most of us ate Pre-Op. Best Wishes- Dx
