My first dumping
Hey Mike - i remember my first dump. Was a couple months after surgery, and i was at a conference. Everyone was eating their bagels and danishes with their coffee, and i thought i'd be SOOO GOOD and eat fruit.
Well, the fruit is pure sugar - and, i got all sweaty and light headed... Took me a minute to figure it out, but just goes to show you - that stuff gets you when you least expect it.....
Hang in there man....
I quickly became a "professional label reader." It’s kept me from dumping along the way. My 1st, was from some Ketchup! Yah, frigging Ketchup!! Probably 7 or 8 times in my near 5 years being post-op, And most of those the first year. (edited to add- "That Learning Curve can be a Biotche!) It quickly takes "the shine" off of sweets. Thank heavens. If I had to rely on will power alone? I don’t know that I would have ever lost my weight. Best Wishes- Dx
Yeah, it is inevitable, amigo.
Reading all the dumping horror stories before my WLS on March 24, I was determined it wouldn't happen to me. I would follow the rules, etc.
But a few weeks ago, it did. Chicken breast did it to me; didn't chew it well enough, and it is hard to digest anyway.
I had one more since, this time with a soy patty.
It sucks. But we learn what we can tolerate, and what we cannot.
Keep on truckin.
