Started 3 week pre-op diet today
Boy this is harder then I thought. I am use to eating a big breakfast, about 600 calories. Today a 100 calorie shake for breakfast, lunch a 100 calorie shake. No snacks or fruit. And dinner is a meal that should fit in the palm of my hand. If I am still hungry I can have a third 100 calorie shake. WTF. OK I know this is for my best. They want me to lose as much fat as possible and try to shrink the liver.
OK I feel better know. Thanks for letting me vent. It will be OK. I can do this. TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE!
Hey Hans, hang in there. This is one of the hardest parts of the entire journey. But besides shrinking your liver, it helps you to be ready for eating after the surgery. When I did my pre-op liguid diet, the first 2 days were the hardest. After that I guess my body began to adjust and it really was not too bad. The hunger became less each day and by the 3rd or 4th day I really did not feel hunger pains at all. I wish you the best on your journey and I pray this liquid diet stage will not be very difficult for you.
No BS- the first few days are the toughest. Mine was pure liquid and no food at all. Drink the shakes and don't skimp. Drink a lot of water, propel, or whatever has few calories that you can get down. By the end of the 3rd, day, it will be a lot easier. Don't cheat- you will take great pride in this at the time of surgery. All of these little battles that you win help you win the war.
Best regards,
Lou

Hans - i remember those 3 weeks WELL!!!!!!!!!! For me, it was a matter of shrinking my liver so they could do my surgery laproscopically - and i did not want an open procedure.
It's tough man - that Carb Withdrawal about killed me. But, keep your eye on the prize bud. Post Post Post - i kept the guys on here VERY busy during those three weeks!!!!!!!!! Get stuff ready for the hospital, and for coming home. Plan ahead - make lists - go for walks - go to movies - do whatever you can to stay busy and keep your mind occupied to not think of food (watching TV is a huge trigger because of all the food commercials!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Hang in there man - we're all pulling for you.
