Had surgery Tuesday and am back home today. Seem to be doing fine other than the gas.... sheez Never thought I would see the day I would have to power squeeze just to get a fart out or burp 3 times for every sip of water. Doc tells me this could last for a few days. Wouldn't be too bad but that gas pressure gets painful. Makes me feel like the guy on the tv commercial who is at the job interview with a bad case of gas. Have you guys ever tried Crystal Light? I tried one last night. NASTY!!!!! Actually thought I was going to vomit with just one sip. Needless to say the rest of that crap hit the trash. I'll will be sticking with water, decaf tea and 100% fruit juice no sugar added when I can find it that is.

Glad to hear you’re home! These first couple of weeks SUK. It Does Get Easier Each Week. For that “trapped Gas?” A little trick from my Dr. Lay on your left side with your knees slightly bent. A pillow between your knees. In this position, because the way our intestines are arranged, Gravity will aid the natural peristalsis of the intestines And the “Trapped Gas” will “Pass on Through” much quicker. When ever you can, Walk. The motion of walking also helps greatly. That and Gas-X were Great for me. Only 3 days since surgery? Oh Yeah! That Gas can be a major Pain!

Best Wishes- Dx

Hey Fisherman - congratulations on the surgery, and WELCOME HOME..... Walking sure helped me with my gas pains - it moves the air around and helps it find a way out!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, i agree with the Crystal Lite - Except for the Raspberry/Lemonade - I use about 2 times the amount of water it calls for, and really like it - but, otherwise most of it is really nasty stuff. In fact - a lot of the "diet stuff" i find i like if i water it down a lot......

Again, welcome home, and congrats on a successful surgery!!!!!!!

Congrats on the surgery. You might find that you'll feel better sooner if you stick to water for a few weeks. I found that easier than I expected. Even now, I mostly drink water and half/caf coffee. As for the gas, that too shall pass, as they say.

Glad you're home and doing well fisherman!  The gas was a pain for about a week, and even now I get a problem with it once in a while. As for the Crystal Light, I like the lemonade and fruit punch flavors.  Be prepared though, some things you really liked before the surgery will taste like shnitz to ya now, and vice-versa!!

Thanks for all the replies. I haven't been able to lay flat in a bed yet. At the hospital I kept the head of the bed up, last night at home I gave up on bed and slept in my recliner. Hope to be able to tolerate laying flat in my bed soon.

So far 100% fruit juice has been hard to come up with. Guess I will break out my juicer and make it for myself. Will probably taste better anyway. I have been wondering about the no caffeine thing.

I like coffee but dont care for decaf. I wonder if the half caff would be a bad thing? I was reading an article about how they decaf coffee a few years ago. Seems the first decaf coffee was re-claimed from a ship wreck. It was quickly figured out that the chlorine is what stripped the caffein out of the beans. Problem was at the same time water stripped out a lot of the coffee so they quickly figured out they could put the beans in a gas chamber and bomb them with chlorine gas and get similar results without losing any of the coffee from the beans. Chlorine gas is very poisonous so aside from the taste issue I have the whole poison issue going on whenever I drink decaf coffee.

Looking forward to getting out and doing some fishing SOON.

Be careful with the 100% fruit juice. I was told by my Nut. to mix it 50/50 with water and to stay away from citrus for the first 6 weeks.  pan head
