OT: 8th Grader offered basketball scholarship!?
Just saw where an 8th grader from California has already been offered a basketball scholarship at Kentucky! The kid is already 6'4" tall and eveidently is one heck of a player -and he's a white kid.
I think it's great that the young man has the talent and ability, but wonder if maybe this is pushing it too much? I mean, let the kid just be a kid before he gets all the pressure of recruiting. Just my thoughts.

You will be assimilated, resistance is futile.
I wish all the best for this kid...I almost hope he blows out his knee early on. Not for the injury, but to get grounded and rooted in school first (and in life). Maybe some girl will come along and mess with his head. Just hope he gets some hard knocks along the way without damageing all the goods. Hopefully you get a coach who will sit him down or out of a game when he does some stupid teenage thing...not get pampered along the way. Brian
I've seen a few stories on TV of these phenomenol young basketball players. College coaches and scouts Can star****ching them and talking them up. But, they Cannot recruit them. I think the NCAA specifies that students must be at least 15 before they are formally approached by coaches...I was saying the other day that I wish there was a minor league system for basketball because some colleges and some unscrupulous colleges make a mockery of college basketball when they recruit a kid and only expect him to play 1 or 2 years. I'm pretty sure that's happening with a hot shot who's going to Louisville this fall.
