Beating constipation?
Easy solution that was recommended by my WLS doc at Duke. Take one or two Colace w/o stimulate pills each day along with your other pills. They help your bowels retain more water so you don't get backed up. I was so constipated after WLS I had to have hemorrhoid surgery three months later. The daily calcium pills will really lock you up tight. I have been using Colace them for over two years now and they work great. You can get them the generic version (Equate brand) at Wal-Mart for about $5 for a 30-45 day supply. Hope this helps you out….
I take 2 colace in the morning and 2 at night. I've done this since 6 months post op, and have 2 BM's daily. I also make sure i get all my water in. Both my internist and my bariatric surgeon recommended the colace, and said the 4 pills per day are very safe, even long term. I tell ya, it sure saved me!!!!!!!!!!! I also increased my fiber - popcorn at night (100 calorie packs are great) is an excellent form of fiber. Good luck - but, don't be afraid of the colace... Check with your doctor first though.....
