Aetna Insurance ?
I had Aetna HMO as well, and according to all the info I was presented (and a call to Aetna itself) coverage was not a problem - but my employer had a specific exclusion for weight-loss surgery. The bottom line is to double- and triple-check your specific policy. As long as there isn't an exclusion, from all I've seen and heard (and from talking to my surgeon's office) Aetna is reasonably fast.
Aetna EPO here and while I'm still pre-op, they told my Dr that they will approve me after I complete a 3 month multi discipline, supervised, weight loss program.
They gave me the choice of a 6 month diet or a 3 month multi discipline program. I think the difference is ithe multi discipline program includes diet, exercise, and mental health rather than just a supervised diet.
We'll see if they keep their word and approve me as easily as they say they will. My Dr. seems to believe they will. Aetna seems to "get it" when it comes to WLS.
Good luck!
