How true, how true.

Now can you imagine how much money we could save if we didn't need to do "the Nasty?" Probably a whole lot more. Then if you take away the kids produced...

Lol,

McDonald's would sell not Big Macs but little steamed chicken snacks -- or watch its profits melt away.” BUT, Since 1 out of 20 Americans works for McDonalds (typically as thir first job out of or during school)  wouldn’t the overall off-set of lost jobs there alone be amazingly significant? And all of the companies and employees that make and sell XL+ items? Hell, the dissolution of the Diet industry alone would be a bigger blow to the economy that the destruction of the automotive industry. “What if?” is a fun game.  But this article only scratches the surface of the impact of Obesity on America, And approaches the issue from a very narrow perspective.  No real depth of analysis is evident.  But it’s surely a popular, “lite-read.” I wonder what the cost of the “Dumb-ing Down of America” through ‘Pop-USA-Today-ish’ articles would be?..... msn……sadly rising to the level of “McNews” everywhere…. Best Wishes- Dx

Dx,

You've got a good point. Fiction and nonfiction have become mixed to the point where it's hard to distinguish one from the other.

But then, written material has always been mostly for entertainment.

Best Wishes,

Dave

Dave,

News/Journalism has become “Info-tainment.” Style and flash over substance is the rule of the day. It makes for some informative entertainment, And some dim journalism. Best Wishes- Dx

imagine the positive impact if there were no journalists or news corporations.  I am thinking America was a much happier place before all this "news" was available to stress our lives.

Absolutely,

Try and prevent or end the war - impossible!

...lower gas prices - impossible!

...clean up the air - impossible!

Activists might be able to bring about some slight change. Imagine say, any one of us were Michael more and put all of that effort into health care. We could perhaps say that we've raised consciousness about the issue. But does it really look like anything is getting ready to change? With health care, with the two issues above or any of the myriad issues...I'd have to say no. So a lot of this news just satisfies curiosity.

I would say we are being controlled by dictatorships and big business, but it seems to go beyond that. Everything seems to be out of anyone's control.

How's that for a rant?

Dave
