Heart pumping back up to almost full power.

Back before they did my hernia repair and PS they did a angiogram of my heart to make sure I could withstand the surgery. They discovered that my heart wasn’t pumping as well as it should be. It is called the injection fraction rate, it is the fraction of blood pumped out of a ventricle with each heart beat. The doctor told me my rate should be between 50 and 55% but my heart was only pumping at 33% and that was not good. He said the reason in my case that it has gotten so low is because of all the years of being obese and that even it was possible that at one time I may of even suffered a mild heart attack. This condition can be corrected in most cases with medication so he gave me 2 different kinds of heart medication and told me that in 90 days if my heart rate is not back up to 50 to 55% they would need to install a heart defibrillator. Well I had my test and my heart rate is now back up to 53%. I am so happy I sure didn’t want to have to have a defibrillator installed. I will have to keep taking the heart medications to keep my heart pumping at that rate, but it is a small price to pay to keep from having a defibrillator, besides the 2 medications are only $4.00 each a month. I don’t know what I have ever done to deserve being so lucky in surviving all different obstacles that I have encountered in my life, most of all having a second chance at life having my RNY surgery. I thank God every day for all he has done for me, I just hope I am worthy. Alan H

Good to hear from you again, Al ..  and the good news ..  I wondered how you were making out with the heart thing ..    ^5   what are the two medications, if you'd care to share?   btw, I just noticed ..  you ever thought about tweaking your username a bit, to "BigAl" ?    That "bigal" thing may be a bit gender and orientation-confusing ..  Otherwise we may get a few excited **************s posting on here soon ..  &:-x)

God has indeed blessed each and every one of us with a new lease on life, hasn't he, BigAl? I also give thanks to him each and every day for making me feel "worthy" of such a blessing. Now it's up to each of us to take advantage of the blessing and to "try" to live every day to its fullest. I be tryin'. Boner

That's great news Al!  I have been wondering about you and Mike.  I'm having my surgery to fix my fistular on Friday at MU, this will enable me to once again eat/drink by mouth.  Everything else is doing pretty good. Bob.
