Is this a FART?
Is this a fart?
Last weekend, starting Wednesday, and returning late Sunday night with Monday as a day of putting things away at home, the wife and I went to a blacksmithing event that I helped to put on. I was working most of the event though some of my duties were to record on DVD, one demonstration for 3 days amongst taking care of moving equipment, putting out the small fires of emergencies that came up and taking care of the needs of the demonstration area that I was assigned to, I was kept pretty busy the whole weekend.
I took over a ton (2000#) of equipment of my own to the event and had to load it, unload it then load it and unload it and put it away myself over the course of the weekend, not to mention moving a lot of it around as needed thought the weekend.
I felt that I was eating non-stop. I would take a normal meal that was given to everyone and for the most part I was able to eat it, after taking out the starches such as large bread rolls for sandwiches (eating just the meat and vegetables) and potato salad etc. This would take from 1 ½ to 2 hours for the meal and I would never really feel full, I would slow down eating when I started to get that feeling but only rarely would I get the STOP message from the stomach. I would treat things like grapes and oranges as either a liquid or a food, depending on what I needed more at the time. I did drink a LOT of water as it was hot and I even ate the REGULAR, ice-cream (sometimes two of them) with the dinner meal.
I felt that I was really blowing my rules but I was hungry MOST OF THE TIME!!
When I got home, I approached the scale with a little dread but I had to know how I did over the 4 days that we were at the event. The result was that I had LOST 5#!!! This was a real shock to me because I felt that I was eating like a pig! I guess I was working so much that I really needed the energy and the body knew what it needed.
A real fart did indeed happen though as I needed to move from one venue to another quickly and I did RUN, yes RUN for the first real time in over 20 years! I just bounced along and thought to myself, HEY, THIS IS FUN!! I NEED TO DO MORE OF THIS!!!

Hammering away the pounds!
The part about "it is SO WORTH THE EFFORT", I couldn't agree more with that statement. 34 pants, L shirts, I'm right there myself. Although, I wish my body would drop down to onederland. I'm 6'3" tall, and am a large build, so I don't think its going to happen for me. I'm not unhappy with my size, just wish I could hop on the scale and see a weight starting with a "1." I'm still dropping up to a pound a month, so maybe by 2010 I'll make it down there. I don't have to worry much about the ice cream, the surgery made me lactose intolerant. I used to absolutely LOVE ice cream, too. Cookies on the other hand....... Ron
