Slow loser?

Hey guys, long time lurker.  I have a question.  I'm nearly 7 weeks out and I'm down a paltry 27 lbs.  Does that make me a slow loser?  Now, I don't want to sound like I'm crying in my water.  Pre-op clothes that were tight are nearly too big for me.  All my friends say they can tell I've lost weight.  I did do well the first week out.  I dropped 15 lbs, but then had a blood clot and developed anemia.  My legs are still swollen (about 1.5x bigger than before the surgery) and I've not really been able to do much in the way of exercise due to the anemia.  I've been tracking my diet on dailyplate.com.  I stay between 600-700 calories/day, under 30g of carb and fat and I'm getting about 100g of protein in.  My strength has slowly been returning and I think I may be able to start going to the gym to walk by the middle of this week.  I guess I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this?  Does anyone have any suggestions (other than getting some exercise) on speeding up the weight loss?  Thanks for your help! David Edit:  And I've been getting 7-8 glasses of water in daily.

almost 30 pounds is not that bad.  I know everyone is different, and all I can say is to give it more time.  Maybe your retaining fluids or something.  For me, at 4 weeks out I had lost 50 pounds.  Now at 8 months out, I am down 114 pounds.    The weight is coming off real slow for me now, but it is still going down.  Before you know it, you'll have lost alot more.  When you begin exercising, you'll see faster results I'm sure. If you want to respect what you have already lost, go to the grocery store and try to carry 6 bags of sugar around a bit.  You will see that 30 pounds is alot of weight. Good luck, and keep up the good work. Kevin

David,

I think you have really lost more than 27 pounds.  When you say that your legs are 1.5 times bigger than usual, I am thinking that you have edema, or extra fluid hanging around, which is not unusual following a blood clot.  As you body start to get back to normal following the clot, you will start to pee like crazy and will loose several pounds within a day.  Just one liter of fluid weight 2,2 pounds and it takes a couple of liters to make you legs swell like than, unless you have a very small frame. Keep up drinking the water, don't cut back on it.  (When you start exercising more I bet this will her with the edema also)

Have you spoke to your surgeon or his staff about your weight loss concerns.  They would definitely be able to tell you if there was reason for concern.

Hope all goes well for you.
