Armadillos are neat animals ..  My mom said when she was young her family kept a wild one as a "pet" out on their place in West Texas ..   They're kinda boring though ... not very exciting ..   They tend to roll up into a protective ball if they get nervous around you, kinda like a large pillbug ..  They're more scared of dogs than a threat to them ...   Not sure how you managed to get one in Alabama ..  I didn't think they were native to that area ..  Maybe one hitched a ride from Texas?    &:-D)   They do have long claws that they use to scratch around in search of bugs and such ...  Just be careful of those and you should be O.K.   You might try to scare him up and get him to ball up ..   Then just carry him off to wherever you want to ..  He may be hanging around b/c "he" is a gravid (pregnant) female (?)   A bunch of little 'dillos running around would be kinda cute ..  

Your right that would be neet.  It is still out there and the dog has given up lol we shall see.

Regarding your 'dillo: 1.  Find somebody with a live trap and set near the hole.  Can bait it with just a little lunch meat and or some table scrap veggies.  Carrots, celery etc.  Once in trap take into wild and release or shoot with .22. 2.  Only harm it can cause your dog is maybe rabies. 3.  After he/she is out - roll a few mothballs off into hole and fill back up.

Thanks Don I did not think of that my dad had a trap from when he would catch the racoons at the lake house that would always get the duck eggs.  I called mom and she is going to bring it to me.  I will let you know how I do.  Great Idea. Tks.  Renee A.

OOP's so sorry for the intrusion won't do that again,  I am a married woman with a hubby that is on the road through the week I was needing a mans input did not figure the women would know but hey who knows.    I have the trap set we shall see I put some celery and carrots and some dog food in it so maybe one of the three will attract it.  I will pm you when all is said and done.  Once again to all you guys sorry for the intrusion I have been here 2 years first time I posted here on your board.  Tks for all the help.  Renee A.

I checked on Atty Pauls for the spelling before I committed myself.  Had to see how many "l"s.  When is your surgery set for now?

I was more worried about the "d"s.  Hehehe!!  My surgery is this Monday, the 28th!!
