Of defecating
4.5 weeks post-op, and wanted to get some advice on . . . poop.
Producing the stuff is not the problem. But all those lil turds seem to be setting up a fecal condo down there.
Then it's like giving birth. Push, breathe, push breathe.
I'm in the company can practicing Lamaze breathing techniques, finding a center of focus, etc.
Then out comes a 9-inch long, 3-inch thick bouncing, baby poop.
The thing wouldn't flush. I pity the janitor.
I just closed the stall door and walked away. Bow-legged, but proud.
So, advice on fiber the pouch can tolerate, or should I just swallow some Miralax from time to time?
I just posted this (below) on the California Board. Sip sip sip, esp as the weather gets hotter. It is for both dehydration (# 1 reason for WLS patient to reenter the hospital), & BM. Looks very good. I would add some leafy green vegetables though (esp spinach). Spinach has both iron and potassium. It also has fiber. It can be cooked or eaten raw like the leafs in a salad. You might want to add a small amount of regular fruit to the diet too. Oranges, tomatoes, raisins all are high in potassium and can keep you regular. If you add the above (but don't go hog wild), you will continue to lose at a normal level. The honeymooning stage usually last 6 months. You have plenty of time to get to goal. Don't forget to smell and taste the roses along the way (avoid the thorns). Brian
Over on the RNY board a lot of them talk about taking Benafiber. I bought some but haven't taken it yet. A couple of doses of green veggies, a daily serving of refried beans, and whole grain tortillas seems to keep me going OK most of the time. Your pouch may or may not be interested in any of those items, but they're all fairly high in fiber.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
If you hang out here long enough, it will become evident that for every one hundred doctors, there are one hundred different opinnions as to what constitutes a proper post-op diet. Mine basically said, "whatever you can tolerate w/o throwing up is ok". So I've been eating crackers since week 3 and eating tortillas since about week 5. It may have slowed my loss a little, I don't know. I'm down about 120 in the 5 months since surgery.

You're probably right. But I'm ****tin' like a pet goose with it sitting in my pantry.
