Tired like a ******* all the time... Damn!

Okay, so I lost all the excess weight in 9 months. I'm in the 170's now and am heading to being too thin if it doesn't stop. I eat whenever I'm hungry which is usually every 3-4 hours during my day. Sometimes longer if I'm not hungry. When I do eat I try and eat good stuff. When I need something sweet, I'll have peanut-butter and jelly on crackers or just mix the two together in a cup. Or I'll have a bowl of cheerios with skim milk and some sugar(the real thing) sprinkled on it. One would think that I should feel great, but to be honest about it, most days I'm exhausted for no reason. I'm being treated for Polycythemia-Vera.. a rare blood disorder, and that could be the complete cause of this. I'm just tired of being tired all the time..............

In general it took me a while to gain my energy back.  Hopefully yours will come back too.  I nibble on a B-Complex pill throughout the day.  It seems to help...Yeh I know it's weird.  Brian

I bet the blood problem has something to do with it. I feel pretty good most of the day. But when I run out of gas, I run out of gas. It's over. I just want to go lay down and sink in to the matress. I'm hoping this will improve when I get to goal.

I would tend to bet on the blood problem too. However, my first thought was B-12. Do you know what your count is? When mine has been low, someone has literally had to drag my ass out of bed.

Most likely the blood issue… some things that might help though… instead of 3 to 4 meals, add some high protein low-glycemic snacks between meals. Carbs that are complex, like veggies or legumes, can keep your blood sugar levels more constant than stuff with simple starches and/or sugars. Some of the energy drops could be due to spikes and drops in blood sugar levels dealing with the crackers, cheerios, etc… Also, try upping your B-Vitamins across the board.  A “B-50” works just fine. That seems to help a lot of folks. Just some thoughts…. Hope you get your ‘Poly-V’ cleared up soon. Best Wishes- Dx

Thanks guys!  I'm gonna give the B vitamins some thought. It could be a definite factor.

If you're being treated for polycythemia vera with phlebotomy and/or drugs like hydroxyurea, I'd imagine that fatigue wouldn't be too uncommon.  You might check with your hematologist. /Steve

I had similar fatigue issues. My B levels were in the green but I started taking IM injections of B12 and found it helped alot.  I can definitely tell when my next one is due.

I think b-VITAMINS MAY BE KEY.. BUT THIS DISEASE OF THE BLOOD MAY BE THE CAUSE.  I may be screwed...  no way to beat this thing. Thanks guys!
