First doctor's appointment
Do as much research as possible, but don't scare yourself.
Start working on adjusting your eating style. Ask yourself some hard questions, can I give up Beer, Soda, Breads things like that. Different Docs have different requirements and diets for you after surgery, so some things may be ok, some not. Ask your Doctor what is expected of you after the surgery, what can I eat, how much can I eat, when do I get to progress etc.
Good luck with your journey!

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
Watch and ask questions on these forums. I also recommend you attend as many bariatric surgery groups as possible. At these support groups you can ask questions of recent RNY patients to get a more realistic feeling of their experiences after surgery. Not everybody reacts exactly the same to eating certain foods past surgery, having gas or diarrhea, etc. Mentally, just think about feeling better, fitting into smaller clothing, being in public, etc. You must want something out of the surgery--I'd concentrate on the things you want from surgery.

The best thing to do is what you all ready have done. Join this site. Screw the support groups because you will become an expert on boobs , periods and falling ass problems. Ask your questions here and the guys won't steer you wrong. Second thing to do, is get off your butt and start walking, then join a gym. Start slowly, the more you do, the easier the recovery. Don't go out and buy a bunch of protein drinks and other foods because your taste buds will change. But the most important thing is to ask questions on this site and you will be prepared for the upcoming change of lifestyle. Listen to your Doctor and Nurses and get it done.
