I looked all over for a good blender for protein shakes and smoothies.  I finally bought a Back To Basics Smoothie Blender at WalMart. It was only $17.97 and it works GREAT!  It is specifically designed to make sure the ice and other ingredients get fully blended together. Has a 48 oz. pictcher with ounces marked on it, has the mixing wand to make sure the ice gets crushed up, and it has a spout for serving. GREAT blender!!

A friend of mine bought a Magic Bullet blender at Costco for $49.99. It's good, but my WallyWorld bargain works just as well - plus I can make more shakes at one time.

I wanted a blender for smaller amounts for fresh shakes, something that wouldn't take up a lot of kitchen counter space, something easy to clean, etc. So I opted for the Magic Bullet. I know it costs more, but it's what I was looking for. Sure I've had blenders in the past, but I didn't want that LARGE thing staring at me when not in use. The Magic Bullet sits nicely at the back of my counter, and suits my needs perfectly. I didn't mind spending the money, as it came with several extra mixing cups. You get one blending container, and if you drop it, you're off to buy another. I can drop these mixing cups from the Magic Bullet on the floor and they just bounce. Haven't broken one in over 2 years.  Just MHO.

That's cool Dave.  I'm just cheap and didn;t want to spend an arm and leg for one.

$50  is not "an arm or leg" to me. Convenience has it's price. I've always opted for convenience and qualtiy of life, not the least expensive item I could buy. I still use the power and hand tools I've purchased over the past 40 years--not because they were only used once or twice, but because they were quality tools. I've called my self many names in the past --stupid, dumb, niave, etc.--but never cheap. I'm happy with my Magic Bullet and you're happy to shop at Wal Mart. I rarely go into a Wally World due to large crowds.

Good deal Dave. Glad you're happy with your choice!  I don't always purchase the least expensive item either. Usually, I buy the one I want after doing some research and making what  I think is an informed chioce as to what suits my particular needs in a given situation. When it comes to my power tools, I also buy top quality and brands.  Calling myself cheap was my attempt at being humorous. I can guarantee you I've been called a lot worse!! BwaHahahaha!!!

Heh - I used to be the same way.  I couldn't stand to be around crowds.  Now it doesn't bother me.  The only thing that bothers me - and this isn't exclusive to Wal-Mart is people who stop in the middle of aisles, people who know you're trying to get by and just stand there.  Or the people who practically knock you down to get around you.   But - as I said, that's not exclusive to Wal-Mart - that happens there, at the grocery store, Target, the mall, Barnes and Nobles .. the list goes on. I'm torn.  We invested in a nice big blender - and it works .. okay.  I can definitly see the benefit of using a Magic Bullet type blender.  Maybe if I had the smaller one, I'd use it more often instead of shelling out the dough for AchievOne and those sort of protien drinks.

I have some anxiety issues, and take meds for that. I really hate crowds. Dislike shopping on busiy holidays, like Xmas, day after Thanksgiving, etc.  I can really relate to your desciription of WalMart--mindless lemmings looking for cheap things in really croweded conditions.   Parking there is almost as bad too.

If you really hate shopping in the stores, you can shop in most of them online.  Yeah, you have to pay S&H, but considering the cost of gas it may be worth it.  I can't physically shop in most stores so I shop online.

I'm well aware of shopping via the Internet. I do it often.
