Russ, That is really amazing.  Surgery is becoming less invasive with much quicker recovery times.

It is truly amazing what they can and are doing medically these days. I remember when my dad had heart bypass surgery in the late 70's. It was "new", they were just learning how to do it, and it was very rare, and the survival rate was less than 50%. Now, they do thousands everyday and the survival rate is phenomenal.

Pretty Star Trekky kind of surgery, huh? "The No-Incision Appendectomy" - Amazing.

I had a Lap RNY and subtotal gastrectomy and they removed my stomach in its entirety through an incision that was 1 1/4 in. long. They did not want to take a chance of cutting into the tumor accidentally and leaving cancer cells behind. I still think the whole thing was pretty amazing.
BTW, one of the surgeons took a picture of my stomach on the table with his cell phone camera.
