Thunderclap time.
It's amazing .. all these different ways we can take mother nature's fury and spin it into a fart joke.
At any rate .. here goes.
I had my last job in 2002 - I got laid off because the company I worked for closed the facilities they just built in Washington State. I had worked there for a year, putting my time in as a network administrator on the graveyard shift so that I could be bumped up in the company.
After that, things got really bad for me, and I got to a point that I physically couldn't work because of my weight. It took my new wife to tell me that I couldn't - I wouldn't have accepted it otherwise.
At any rate .. three surgeries (a fourth one pending on May 2nd) later, and I'm working on getting my name back out there to start working again.
Currently - all I have pretty much are jeans and t-shirts. I've been keeping my wardrobe on the cheap as I lose weight.
Tomorrow marks the launch of Microsoft Windows 2008, and they're having a huge launch event at the Anaheim Convention Center, which is about 10 minutes from me. So - I'm going to go and see if I can't make some connections professionally.
To that end, I figured I shouldn't go in my jeans and t-shirt. So - I went to Wally World, and I was able to pick up some slacks, a button-down shirt, and a belt.
They all fit beautifully.
Not to mention, I was able to go buy myself a new pair of semi-dress shoes that fit - at a Payless Shoe Source. I've had to buy extra-wide shoes for so long .. to be able to go to a store and buys ome was amazing.
Yeehaw.
Now let's get my career off the ground.
