A simple request I made to OH.com a couple weeks ago to make it easier for men to know about the locker room. Has someone else made this request to them thus the confusion? Read messages bottom to top to follow.

Cathy,

I think someone is mistaken because this is the first time I've made the request to anyone. Not important but who told you this? Could you have them contact me directly since, no, I do not know why a link can't be included at this time. Thanks

I followed up with Member Services and they advised that you've made this inquiry a number of times previously.  As you know, this isn't a link they can include at this time under "Forums".

As per their suggestion to you, you could provide a link to the Men's Board so when you post it will provide the information.

I'll forward your request to our Member Services Manager for her review.  Thanks for your suggestion and idea!

Just a request to have the mens OH board forum appear on the main forums pulldown list on OH.com rather than have it buried amongst all the other less popular forums. I would certainly think we have more traffic than, let's say, the revision WLS board which is on the main forums pulldown. New men posters always talk about "how they finally found the mens board" and quite frankly, we could use some more posters. Thanks

It wasn't me.  I did write them about a year ago, but those aren't my words.  I gave up on it and now just post on the Main Board inviting guys to the Men's Board with a link.  Brian

Thanks Brian. I thinks it's time for the locker room to move to the main stream here on OH.com in order to help those wayward WLS men looking for a support "home."  They might find out we're not their cup of tea so to speak but at least they would know we're here. Isn't that what this locker room gig is all about --- to support our obese male "team mates."  Boner

First, wasn't me either. I think a link on the main board would be a good/bad thing. It would good for "Men" traffic, but we would also get more "unwelcomed guests" stopping by as well. We're like a hard to find small town that's wanting to advertise our location in the big city. Sure were gonna get more folks stopping in, but the crime rate will skyrocket. Just my two bits! Ronnie

I thought about the inevitable influx of unwanted TunaTown visitors but thought the overall benefit  exceeded the cost.

That's not my corresponcence, but I have been writing to member services and anyone else who might listen that we need a more direct link to the men's forum.  One of my suggestiions is that they refer Men to the men's forum when they first sign in on the ObesityHelp.com website.  Unfortunately, it usually takes most men a few months before they find out we're here--if ever.  When the site was smaller, I used to go looking to invite men to our Forum.  I was still posting on the Main Forum at that time.  But, I just don't go there anymore.   I realize that about 85% or more of the people on the site are women.  So, why can't they just make it easier for us and we'll leave them alone.  All of this seems strange to me since a man set up ObesityHelp.com in the first place.

Changing the main forum pulldown to include a link to the locker room would be a snap so I'm not sure why they won't do it. I sent them an email asking them. I would think they would want to increase the OH.com traffic which would help them financially but more importantly, I would think they would want to help obese men searching for WLS information. Let's see what they say. Great idea by the way regarding letting men know about us when they sign up. Boner

Boner, This is a good idea.  When I was new, I found the Men's Board via a link that Dx posted on the PA State Forum.  I've been here ever since.

That is a great suggestion.  I floundered in "Estrogen Hell" for 2 months until one of the guys on the RNY forum told me about the men having their own forum.  It really is amazing how easy it is to miss the mens forum because it is at the bottom of the "other forums section".  Taz
