Do you track what you eat? if so, how

Hello guys, I was lapbanded about a month ago.  Now that i'm getting my appetite back, I need and want to start tracking what i'm eating, making sure I get enough vitamins, protein, etc while making sure I keep the calories in check.  I would also like a program that could track exercise.    I admit, I'm one of those that needs to stay on top of this since I find that I start to slack when I dont' pay attention.   Any recommendations for a website or program that can help track what you are eating and how much you are exercising?   Thanks, Roger p.s. I've been mostly lucking on this website, but have found your posts and progress very inspiring.  I went to another website for people with lapbands, but there was no exclusive men's forum. . .  Oh my god, all the drama with some of those posters.

I use the following web stie:   www.TheDailyPlate.com  It allows me to see everything on one page and it keeps track of your food intake and exercise that you.  It is very neat.  I have just started using it about 8 days ago and I am impressed so far. Good luck.   Taz

Yeah. What Taz said.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

I used www.fitday.com for the first year after my VSG.  It's free and has a downloadable version (with more complete food database). JP

I used www.fitday.com for the first year as well. Worked great especially when used in conjunction with dietfacts.com which has menus for many restaurants. Select what you ate at the restaurant and Dietfacts automatically loads the data into fitday. It's great to see you tracking your food, by whatever means. Awareness and Accountability is a key to being successful with the WLS gig, me thinks. Boner

I use a combination of Fitday.com while I am at work and a notebook type journal when I can't get to a computer.

I got a Bodybugg device at the gym and there is a website that you can track what you eat while the device tracks what you're burning. It's cool because you can see exactly where you're at at any point in the day and then you can decide if you're on the right track or not. It's a little on the expensive side (to me at least) but if you can benefit from it it might be worth the money.

Another voice for Fitday.com.  Spend the few bucks for the download and use it. It sure helps keep you on track with your eating to see where you are getting your calories from. The downloaded program has many more features and a much better database of foods. It is worth the $30 or so they charge for the program.

I second (third? fourth?) the motion for Fitday in combo with Dietfacts.  The basic Fitday database (which can be awkward to search sometimes, though) plus the import feature on Dietfacts covers most of what I eat.  It also  tracks exercise and other stuff, though I don't use it for that (I use an excel spreadsheet I designed, which uses the calorie info from Fitday as an input, and provides detailed predictions weeks and months in advance). Some people like the software version of Fitday, but I personally prefer the website version.  I use a computer all day at work, have two laptops and a desktop at my house, and often use my girlfriend's laptop when I'm at her place.  But I can enter my food on any of them, making it less likely I'll quit for convenience reasons.  And unlike other websites/software out there, it's 100% free for all features. If you carry a Palm or Windows Mobile phone, you might look at some of the portable solutions, since you'd have them at all times, including right there in the restaurant.
