Question about fluids?
My understanding is that fluid dumps out of your stomach in to your intestines pretty quickly. I've been able to drink a half liter bottle of water or crystal light in under 5 minutes since about a month out. I doubt that you could damage your pouch through drinking water. I think it would just back up into your esophogus first.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
Fluids tend to go straight thru u usually within 5-10 mins or so. As far as being able to sip more that is to be expected. You stomach is healing and its able to tolerate more slowly., I can honestly drink about 6-8 ounces easily now and I am 11 months post opt. I find that if I do eat AND drink at the same time the food intake is less but at the same time if I over do it the pain goes away quickly because the water tends to move around the food and down into the intestine.
I don't think if u are just sipping and its staying down just fine that you are in any danger of hurting your new pouch. Crystal light is actually recommended by my docs office to help get the water in. I drink 2 nalgene bottles a day of water and it gets boring...=)
