For Christ's sake DO NOT EAT SHRIMP right after surgery (and by right after I mean 3 weeks out).  My dietician JUST told me the other day that it was okay if I ate shrimp, so today my mom brought me a pound of boiled shrimp and I peeled some and I took about 3 bites of ONE shrimp and OMG I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE!  My stomach felt like it was going to blow out and my heart started pumping a little faster.  I started feeling VERY weird and kind of clammy-like.  Didn't vomit, but man it was not pleasant whatsoever.  Stories are welcomed.

I was eating shrimp salad 3 weeks after surgery, no problem.  I could understand that feeling if someone forgot to chew and it got stuck.   I did have that happen once. Don't let this experience stop you from selecting it in the future.  Prepared the correct way, it's one of the lowest calorie to protein ratio foods you can eat.  But stay away from the chinese farmed stuff, it's higher in mercury and who knows what else. Oh and you put it in a food processor or something?

All meats are hard to digest the first month or so.  In a few months try the shrimp again...You may be able to handle it then.  You may have discovered the foamies for the first time.  Test everything first...Ask the pouch if it likes this new item...He'll let you know soon enough.  Trial and error.  Brian

I had surgery on 11/26. My 25th anniversary was on 12/27. My wife likes eating at Red Lobster. I don't particularly......but I was trying to get laid.........so we ate at Red Lobster. I had grilled catfish and it was awesome. My wife had three different kinds of shrimp and there was a little left over so we boxed it and took it back to the hotel. Several hours later, while trying to regain my composure after the main event of the evening, I decided to sample a little of her shrimp. Bad move. I didn't blow up, but it was touch and go for a while.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

You have got to research Sean N's post about going down the freeway...eating a hard boiled egg, he got from a quicky mart... it is priceless...he blocked traffic on the Houston freeway....Yaking on the side of the road....helicopters and all.... when the time is right...I can eat the devil out of some grilled scallops... but no shrimps//// Russ

I definitely don't want that to happen to me again I know that.  It wasn't in my shoulder....it was just in my chest/stomach area all up in there like it wanted so badly to come back up, but I'm trying my damndest not to puke as I'm just 3 weeks out.  So yeah, that was the most horrific experience of my life just about, besides being cir****ized, which I'm sure wasn't fun either thank God I can't remember that pain.  And I ONLY HAD 3 BITES of one shrimp, it wasn't like I took an entire handful and shoved them in my mouth.  Anyway, I was very weirded out by that, freaked my mom out a little too, since she bought them special for me lol
